Other games good with Steel Battalion controller.

Post by corn619 »

I just got Mechwarrior 4 and the expansions and its a great game to play with the controller. I can't help but wonder if theres other games for MAME and other emulated platforms this controller would be fun with. I tried some SHMUPS like Progear and found it fun and different to play. Even other PC games would be cool as well.

Man I've been wanting to play Mechwarrior 4 like that but my computer desk isn't big enough :( . Resident Evil 4 might be kinda fun with it, or maybe a rts game if you can get the shortcuts mapped in a useful way. On a site I looked at about using the controller on pc also mention using it with Freespace 2.

Might have some good use for games that have Dual Joysticks, like Smash TV, BattleZone, Crazy Climber. Thats all I can think off.

The problem is that the left hand Steel Battalion joystick only moves left and right, and has a hat. So you want to use it on a game that would make use of that. Flight sims are usually good, as you have right joystick for climb/dive/bank and the left joystick controls the rudder. But using it for a two joystick shooter is a no go.

I'd really love to see a converter that lets me plug it into my 360 and a release of Steel Battalion 2.

Using the analog stick on the left stick worked great for me with SHMUPs. It felt different but at the same time I enjoyed controlling my game in a different way.
