Where can I get one?
Which Dreamcast mod chip should I get, and where can I get one? Is it easy to install? Do I need a mod chip?

Re: Where can I get one?
I have one I could sell you.
Don't be fooled that it looks just like a Sonic the Hedgehog sticker. All you have to do is open up your DC and stick it on inside right below where the disc would spin.
Its yours for $25 shipped.
Seriously, you dont need a modchip for the DC just burn and play.
Some of the RPGs dont work so well burned, so if you want to play Grandia2 and Skies of Arcadia you should get an OG copy.

Mine's even better - it's actually an invisible sticker that you put on the outside - you don't even have to invalidate your warranty.
It'll cost you though... $100 shipped, a pack of mint humbugs and a signed picture of your mum in the buff. Do we have a deal?

Re: Where can I get one?
Seriously now, the only reason to have a modchip is to play non-bootable burned games or original imported games without the need of a boot cd, so unless you find that really annoying, you don't need one.

So Let me get this straight. I can burn a normal BIN/CUE or ISO or whatever image of a dreamcast game (US version) and just pop it in the Dreamcast and it will play like a normal game without any mod chip? But If I wanted to play an import it would be essential to have a mod-chip, correct?NebachadnezzaR wrote:Seriously now, the only reason to have a modchip is to play non-bootable burned games or original imported games without the need of a boot cd, so unless you find that really annoying, you don't need one.

BIN/CUE games aren't selfbooting, but most images are CDI (discjuggler), NRG (Nero), or Alcohol 120% which would be self-booting. In those cases, yeah, just burn and stick it in your Dreamcast like a real game
