My friends bought Xbox One almost exclusively to play Halo 2 multiplayer (hope that exists). This is the definition of a killer app (or killer game)

that and I guess one of them wants to play Forza

Ok so I cannot stand how obscure and hard to find they've made the marketplace. It's almost an afterthought. Good luck selling a digital only game on this console. There's absolutely nothing on the home page about games to download unless it's an ad for a demo for some ultra popular title.

If you were a 360 owner you aren't surprised by this, they've been wittling away at the actual gaming aspects of the dashboard for years, it's just terrible that I have no idea what's on the marketplace unless I read about a game on a website. I actually just went on xbox.com and I legitimately could not find what was available download only for the Xbox One (not counting retail titles you could download digitally).

I'm probably alone in this but I find the whole interface kinda not great. It seems very slow, inefficient, and at times confusing to find what you want.

Now, Sunset Overdrive. Awesome. I am surprised there isn't much talk about this one here.

Good chance I'll get the Assassin's Creed bundle w/ Kinect for $450 and sell the games. Seems like a reasonable deal.

Yeah the UI and store kind of suck.

I want them to bring back the original 360 'blades' theme.

Halo MCC thoughts:

Single-player

I've played through Halo 3 & 4 single-player. No problems there.
Halo CE is kind of jittery in cutscenes. However, it plays normally from what I've seen so far (I'm only on the second level though).
I have not played 2 yet.

Multiplayer hang-ups

If you haven't paid attention to the news lately, online for this game hasn't been pretty. I wasn't able to connect to a match the first couple of days; and they've now limited the number of playlists to choose from to help funnel the traffic. Jumping in a match a little easier now.

My first match took about five or six minutes to fill a lobby. Now it usually takes between 30 to 90 seconds to find a game. Making progress! Hopefully they sort this out soon.

Oh, side-note: Lobbies don't really work right now. When a match ends you're shown the match results and, if you're fortunate enough to have the game not lock up on a loading screen, you'll be taken back to the multiplayer main menu. Only once have I been able to stay in a lobby and play a second match with the same players. I'd appreciate it if this gets fixed as well.

Multiplayer thoughts

Note: I've only had the opportunity to play maps from Halo 1, 2, 2 remake, and 3.

Halo 1- this might be my favorite multiplayer out of the bunch just because of how unbalanced everything is. You're biggest concerns in Halo 1 are the almost instant-kill grenades and the pistol. A match on Hang 'em High is nothing but a pistol fight and it's a blast. My only problem with the first Halo is that alien weapons (save the grenade) are practically useless.

Halo 2- Maybe it's because I played too much Halo 2 when it was in its prime, but Halo 2 can go take a long walk off of a short bridge. I cannot stand classic Halo 2. When the map voting begins, you'd better freakin' pray that Ascension or Midship aren't one of the options; if they are- that's what you're playing! I understand that Halo 2 is what most of the Halo die-hards drool over, but FFS, let's play some different maps! I haven't played Halo 2 online for over 8 years and I still don't have any desire to jump back into it.

Halo 2 remake- On the other hand, the remade maps for Halo 2 breathe some new life into the otherwise stale maps. New pathways, weapons, and altered terrain are much-needed additions to Halo 2's maps; the improved graphics are a nice bonus as well. Even though I'm still sick of Halo 2, I'm open to trying out the updated maps.

Halo 3- It's Halo 3... online... I never had a chance to play it until I got this collection. I'm sorry I don't have any real pros/cons on this one.
I haven't played it enough to make any judgement on it.

We thought Halo 2 remake will look better, we ended up using the original maps because they are easier to look at and find your way around.

I wonder if Halo 2 is the perfect multiplayer game. It was released 10 years ago, and its just as fun today as it was then.

The sad thing is in about a year or so, online multiplayer will be empty. Just the sad truth of modern gaming. Its hard to believe a game would sell 3-5 million, but in 5 years you won't find a 100 people playing online

Sunset Overdrive is only $37 at Best Buy at the moment - $30 if you have GCU. Probably a better price to give it a go...

God-damn-it. The Xbox One has hit £300 in this country with 4 games. Or £350 with 4 games plus Sunset Overdrive and a years worth of Xbox Live if you shop around. I shouldn't want one, but I do.

Sunset Overdrive is that alluring.

For me it was Killer Instinct. I played the heck out of the original in the arcade plus the remake is fantastic and only getting better.

I went with one of the Black Friday deals from the Microsoft Store. I got the Assassin's Creed Bundle along with the Master Chief Collection for $350ish with tax. I also grabbed Killer Instinct Season 1 Ultra Edition while it was 50% off. I ordered everything on Thursday and it was on my doorstep today. I was not expecting to get it that quick over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. So kudos to the Microsoft Store for fast order processing!

I was not interested in the Xbox One when it was announced due the whole "no used games" business amongst other reasons that they have since backpedaled on. Since the PS4 currently has no compelling exclusives [for me], it became a no-brainer to get one after the price drop.
