The game has not crashed on me once and I have pumped hours into it. Either you're unlucky or it's a new issue since a new update? I haven't played it in a couple of weeks.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:So Alien Isolation is pretty broken.
Even after being patched the cutscenes stutter like nothing I've ever seen and within an hour the game crashed on me.
Nobody notified me that a lot of the tension comes from whether the game is going to break when I go through that next door or not.
Well, when it works it's a fantastic looking game and the atmosphere is really something else so at least that lives up to my expectations.

Re: The PS4 thread
I've heard so many problems with the 2.0 update that I've avoided installing it. Any news on a fix for the major problems?
Re: The PS4 thread
What are the major problems? Are games stuttering like crap one of the problems? Because I loaded up Shadow of Mordor tonight and it was playing really badly with loads of stuttering. I don't remember the game having that issue before...

I have no idea but my copy of Alien has the patch that's supposed to fix that cutscene stuttering yet it's still there and very very bad (as well as the long load times). Shadow of Mordor runs fine for me though.Reprise wrote:What are the major problems? Are games stuttering like crap one of the problems? Re: The PS4 thread
My PS4 installed the 2.0 patch without consulting me. But, I haven't experienced any boot issues after it.

Re: The PS4 thread
Should we wait to update until the next one comes out then?
Re: The PS4 thread
It is insane that that is happening? What are they gonna do for people who might hose their system by unplugging it to get it to restart? I just turn mine off the whole way now and do not put it in standby anymore. It took me 2 times before I realized it was the standby causing it. The first time I wrote it off as chance. There is just no excuse for this one.retrosportsgamer wrote:2.01 is coming out to fix the standby mode issues.

Why would unplugging the system hose it? As long as it's not updating I can't see anything it would really cause harm to.wclem wrote:It is insane that that is happening? Also you can just hold the power button for 15 seconds to force it off if you prefer to not unplug things.
It's stupid but it's not like nothing like this has ever happened before. It's stupid but it's also in the grand scheme of things not a big deal.

Re: The PS4 thread
When files are being used or otherwise become static the hard shutting off of a device can corrupt files. It becomes a last resort when holding down the power does not work. Even if it shows the PS4 in standby mode you have no way of knowing what it is currently doing. It could be in the middle of updating a critical system file. Thus causing irreversible problems. Not only this but it tells you not to do it when it finally does start. I think it is terrible because they will not hold themselves responsible if someones system gets ruined this way. Though who knows, maybe they would. Also, there are people out there not smart enough to stop using standby! Sony could at least send out emails to warn of this.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Why would unplugging the system hose it? Regardless, anyone using standby mode should discontinue for now.
