So what have you guys been watching lately?

So what's with this Mama June dating a molester stuff?

Not that I care, child welfare and security aside, but this morning it seemed to be the talk of the town. Is this actual news even?

Apparently TLC (ho ho) cancelled the boo boo show, so maybe something does actually stink.

Perhaps Gotham is flirting with the idea of trying to be a watchable show. Agents of Shield on the other hand is getting to be fairly bad/great. Good on the writers for continuously making Coulson even more terrible at his job.

I'm really enjoying the grittiness and twists in the season so far. Anyone else that's watched the series find that Season 2 was a step up from Season 1?
The wife and I watch this religiously. We both like how fresh it is every season with entirely new stories. The current season is shaping up to be my favorite, but every one has its own merits.

I had wondered about your absence in the Breaking Bad thread. I thought maybe you were one of those secret Breaking Bad haters.

Very few have the balls to be out of the closet Breaking Bad haters.

I watched the first episode of BB in it's first year and hated it. I'll give it another go sometime, but that first episode was a real turn off.

Probably shouldn't have said the last part. Now every single person who doesn't like breaking bad is going to be raising their hand saying they have the balls to be breaking bad haters.

And then I'll have to argue with all three of them.

I recently finished season 2 of Breaking Bad. The show is fucking outstanding.

Any of you watch Grimm? Good/bad? I've never seen it, but I'm curious.

Just got done with American Horror Story: Coven. Not as enthusiastic about this one as I was season 2. Lot's of story threads that don't go anywhere, lots of shocking deaths that have little consequence, slightly muddled themes and way too much Fleetwood Mac. It also seemed to reuse a lot of narrative and dramatic beats from seasons one and two but in an obvious way not subtly so as to let the viewer in on the joke.

Most heinously though it wasn't very scary. It was gross and gruesome at times but again it lost some impact because it wasn't happening to anyone we cared for. Also for some reason they decided to make Baron Samedi into Papa Legba which is a bit odd for those with an interest in world religion/mythology. And enough with witches and vampires powers being interchangeable with X-Men powers.

It's still one of the best shot, acted and interesting of shows on TV but I think if the producers could learn to trim the excess they brought over with them from Glee, it'd be among the very best programmes on the air.

As a palate cleanser to that madness I'm watching some Classic Doctor Who, specifically the Pyramids of Mars story. Interesting to note how (at least in this story) similar Baker's Doctor is to the current incumbent with Capaldi's harsher more callous Doctor. Sutekh is pretty badass as well on his little throne. Some proper dodgy and classic cheap props as well: there's a space rocket that is clearly made of canvas at one point.

I watch Grimm. I really like it, it has kind of the campy feel of Buffy and Angel. The first season is very "monster of the week" with some hints to an overarching story, which finally starts getting fleshed out in season 2. I like all of the characters and the actors do a great job of bringing them to life.
