Tell me about it, I've never seen this game look so gorgeous, and I have no idea why they haven't released the other Sonic games already.

hmm....I don't know, I didn't like Streets of Rage as much. The game just didn't play as well with the 3DS's circle pad, as Sonic did (which is strange imo, usually 2D platformers don't work well with control sticks, but this one plays like a charm).

I haven't tried the Streets of Rage port, but I can see where the Circle Pad would keep you from getting the sort of precision necessary to play it well. That game really requires you to be exact with your inputs and placement.

Yeah, kind of my problem. On the Mega Drive I don't have a problem if I'm surrounded, cause I can use very fast taps of the d-pad to kill both sides that are attacking me, but on the 3DS I get hit :(

I personally thought all those conversions were not that good, with Blackthorne almost unbearable to play.
I played Lost Vikings on the GBA when we did it for TR this year. Graphics and sound were spot on; the controls suffered a bit because button combinations were necessary to do things that only required one button on the SNES.

Sonic Advance? I bought that thinking it was well-reviewed. Haven't gotten around to playing it yet. Actually I have the 2-in-1 which also has Sonic Pinball Party.

EDIT: Egads, it was a port of the first Sonic game. Can't imagine how well that'd do, for one thing a lack of blast processing on Nintendo

GBA Sonic one plays so horribly it would almost be laughable if people hadn't actually paid $30 for it.

Have you played the Genesis version? Genesis version with a 6 button controller is much better. But I have to ask what does the GBA version add or have superior than its SNES counterpart? As far as I can tell they only took away aspects and it ends up being a mildly watered down port. Basically I can't see anyone choosing the GBA port over the SNES and GEN version accept to play it on the go.

Can't you use the D-Pad? I was almost certain that was how I played. I would not play Sonic with the circle pad either, D-Pad all the way.

Streets of Rage port has a few things going for it imo.

1.) Local co-op. If you happen to know someone else with the game, you can both play on your individual 3ds. It works fairly well, too.

2.) Fists of Death mode. Kinda silly fun, and certainly ruins the core of the game, but running through with a friend killing everything in one hit is just a blast, and makes for a good quick session of the game.

3.) 3D in belt-scrolling games is glorious. I'm used to the genre, but having my gf/friends play, they all say it is immediately easier for them to tell exactly what level or plane they are in, and whether or not they are lined up with the enemy. I also like it for the little things, like having lamp posts or phone booths in front of the belt, giving great depth to the game.

And yeah, Sonic Advance is great, as is the 2nd game. That Sonic 1 port though, holy god. I got to labrynth zone and just could not control my rage. The water, the slowdown.... good lord.

haha, I'll try it sometime, but in general I hate the 3DS's d-pad :P.

I don't have a friend with a 3DS (let alone streets of rage) but man that fists of death (why not call it "bear knuckle" mode? ) really does sound fun with a friend.

Also don't use the 3D much, but I will try it since the way you describe it, it sounds awesome.

hahaha, now you guys are making me want to track down a copy of this game :D (or ROM :P)

Don't say game, ROM...game implies wasted money on something better used for shooting trap.
