How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
You know, now that I think about it, are there any NTSC-U SNES genre articles you guys would like to see covered on the site?

Strategy comes to mind, stuff like Nobunaga's Ambition, Liberty or Death, RotTK series, PTO, etc.Ack wrote:You know, now that I think about it, are there any NTSC-U SNES genre articles you guys would like to see covered on the site?

I'm actually really glad you asked me that, as it drove me to go look them up. In the process I discovered that this is apparently the only genre not affected by generally rising SNES prices.SNESdrunk wrote:Strategy comes to mind, stuff like Nobunaga's Ambition, Liberty or Death, RotTK series, PTO, etc.Ack wrote:You know, now that I think about it, are there any NTSC-U SNES genre articles you guys would like to see covered on the site?

I would guess because many of those games aren't exactly pick-up-and-play, too complicated for many to understandAck wrote:I'm actually really glad you asked me that, as it drove me to go look them up. I have noticed that too. These games used to be some of the most expensive on the system, but recently, they have become some of the most affordable.Ack wrote:I'm actually really glad you asked me that, as it drove me to go look them up. Hell, VGPC doesn't even have a listing for the second Nobunaga's Ambition on the SNES. They have a listing for M.A.C.S., a military prototype, but not Nobunaga's Ambition: Lord of Darkness.

I have a few ideas.
1) Multiplayer, or at least something on the multi-tap, it's impact on the SNES, and covering the games that utilized them the best.
2) Something on puzzle games. Granted there's not as many puzzle games on the system as there are fighters, but there's a surprising number of them (something I've found out in my collecting of SNES games). Even more when you add Super Famicom games to the list.
3) A beginner's guide to importing on the SNES. We've talked about SFC imports, but maybe have an article discussing getting into importing games for the SNES, how to mod the system, and covering games that are easy to get into for import n00bs, like myself (I have 2 SFC games that I got because a) easy to play immediately, and b) cost).
I might have other ideas, but those are the 3 I can think of.
Also, good call on the strategy games, since that's a genre that really doesn't get talked about on the SNES and could really benefit from some sort of article on it so people like me might actually learn how to play them.

Definitely all of this, especially #3. Imports are becoming more and more popular, to the point that Rockman 7 and Hagane SFC prices are seriously starting to climb.MyNameIsVince wrote:Ack wrote:You know, now that I think about it, are there any NTSC-U SNES genre articles you guys would like to see covered on the site?

Hmm, interesting. We could do the imports, and I know at least one other person who has asked about multitap games(plus it would give me an excuse to use my SNES Bomberman multitap). A puzzle article would have to be broken up though, into NTSC-U and PAL games versus NTSC-J only games, just due to the amount of NTSC-J only puzzle games.

It does...The game is just titled "Lord of Darkness" on that site, however. (It is currently $11.99 loose, BTW.)Ack wrote:Hell, VGPC doesn't even have a listing for the second Nobunaga's Ambition on the SNES.
