Top 10 retro Multiplayer games (any system) for live event?

Hi,
I'm toying with the idea of hosting a monthly Retro game competition in a bar in London. We'll have some DJs and drinks and play some sort of knockout tournament. So far I've got a couple of games that I think would suit the event. What else do you think would be good?


01. Sensible Soccer (Megadrive)
02. Saturn Bomberman (Saturn)
03. Super Tennis (SNES)

Any suggestions?

Worms is a good one. I need to get a bit of a balance between decent multiplayer, competitive action and known games that people will want to come and play.

Simpsons Arcade and the TMNT games are great as well!

Time Crisis Games (psx, PS2)
Puyo Puyo Sun (or any puyo puyo)
Baku Baku Animal (Saturn obscure and hard to get ahold of, but better than puyo puyo)
Advance wars (GBA, DS Not retro, but who's counting since its so excellent and all the versions are so similar)
Forgotten Worlds (The newest version on Capcom classics is almost worth the price of admission alone. the controls are much better than on emulators)
Contra (always a blast two player)

M.U.L.E., I think, has the distinction of being both old and, to this day, significant. While it has inspired clones, none have equalled the original. But be warned, in its sparse 48k, a very deep and involved game is to be found; the rules are seemingly simple, but the interaction of game elements can be quite complex. This also suits well for multi-session tournament play. I highly recommend it. Emulators are great, but if you can procure an Atari 800 and four sticks, you have a winner.

Awesome! I play a lot of euro-boardgames with some friends, and am hoping to get them hooked on it. So far, they're scared.

well if its for a torny then i would say its got to include

Street fighter2 (any incarnation, mix it up over different events)
Mario Kart SNES
and a button basher, Athlete Kings (saturn) or internationl track and field (psx). plenty of retro arcade ones as well if you prefer.
