Dreamcast Music Replacement Hacks

Post by Elwood »

I wasn't sure if this belonged here or in the mods/hacks section. Move if appropriate.

Although I don't currently own a Dreamcast (though the next time I want to buy an older console it would definitely be a DC), I've been very fascinated by the Dreamcast projects where people sub out the music from certain games (mainly the 2D fighters) and replace it with new music. It seems like a great way to add a new flavor to an old game, or just to make an already playable game much more enjoyable (see MvC2's awful music getting the boot).

I've read Racketboy's article on the subject, and have seen Mozgus's projects (which seem really awesome from the vids I've seen by the way), and am curious as to how many projects are out there with the same level of quality.

So what's your opinion on these music replacement hacks? Which one's have you played and enjoyed? Any ideas on a music replacement idea you'd like to see?

P.S. Thinking about it, I remember seeing Repo Man mention "Marvel vs Capcom 2: The Hellsing Experience", which seemed interesting, but I've never seen nor been able to find any such hack or anything else referencing it. Any idea where it'd be found? Or at least some video of it in action?
I wanted to be a Teminator but they require you have an armored hyperalloy skeleton and mine's mostly recycled truck tires.

I don't care if I sound arrogant, because it's the truth; my releases are the best. And I say this out of frustration, not pride or anything. I've yet to come across any other projects that have the same dedication, in terms of thought, technical attention like normalizing, editing, looping, and so on. There are always problems with them, or they are use obnoxious music that doesn't suit the game, but instead is just music that that particular individual listens to.There's a reason why the original torrent for my first project back in November 2005 is STILL alive today.

Also, here's a page I havent published yet that lets you watch all the preview videos on my own server in stereo sound, unlike youtube by default.
