This guy or gal has been hanging out near my side door for a bit over two days. Dozens of tiny frogs stick our glass door every night, which has created a feast for the mantis.

Hard to tell from these pictures, but she appears to be an adult female Tenodera sinensis (Chinese Mantis). Since she's an adult, it would be a shame to keep her captive without a mate. However, she may have already laid an ootheca or two in the area.
This is the perfect season to go bug hunting. A lot of species are very active right now searching for mates.

Unlike most mantids I've seen in the wild, this girl is always on the move.
I actually emailed my wife telling her to watch out for the bug so she doesn't accidentally step on it. Such a gorgeous and inquisitive bug.
