If you're using the thing for school, "just" needing WIndows for Office will probably mean you're in Windows a lot.

Office for Mac is decent, though it's only got the basic applications. 'course, if that's all you need, it's probably better to go that route.

Boot Camp is likely the better/easier solution for games that need any measure of performance.

If you want a VM though, Virtualbox is free, where Parallels tends to wind up needing paid updates for new OS X versions.

I don't know, I had SWTOR running at decently higher graphic levels in parallels and all I did was give it half my ram(computer has 8 so 4) and the video ram and it works great. Just have to remove the stupid parallels video bios where it Explicitly says "Parallels(c)"(doesn't screw a single thing up to remove it) from registry so those don't complain if you do play games on it

VMs have gotten better with 3D, considering it wasn't all that long ago that they didn't do it at all. I know you can get games working inside them, all I mean is that it's simpler to just reboot the computer and remove any incompatibilities or performance issues due to virtualizing the hardware.

I appreciate the offer, but we've decided to make it a family day instead of just her and me. The kids and I will hangout while she is working and then we are going to head over to the Blacksburg Children's Museum, which is over near Buffalo Wild Wings. The "museum" is really more of a big open area with different activity stations. They can build with blocks, they have a child size grocery store set up (complete with miniature metal shopping carts), There is a dress up area with a bunch of costumes they can put and get on a stage and play around, and just tons of other things. It's privately owned by a married couple that are both teachers and it's cheap. The whole family gets in for $20. The last time we went the kids played so long and hard that they were both falling asleep while playing.

After we wear them out we are just going to kick around town just hanging out together. It'll still be a great time. Again, I really appreciate the offer.

Memphis has a Children's Museum that sounds pretty similar to what you described. We try to go up there every couple of months since the kid absolutely adores it, and I have fun playing with some of the stuff too

First and Main is kind of on the other side of town (or at least campus) from BW3s. Same shopping center as Bull & Bones though.

So awesome how this turned out. Good on you for flipping that frown and such.

I used parallels in the past, but now I use boot camp on the increasingly rare occasion I need to use windows at all. By the way, Microsoft makes office for OSX. Weird, right?

I'm in a similar situation as you. I have suddenlink internet. Now Viacom won't let me stream anything from the Nick.com website. I don't even watch cable; I just pay for internet, and I'm blocked from streaming anything from Viacom.

I actually think this is Viacom's fault. All cable and satellite companies have to pay Viacom big dollars to broadcast those channels. I worked for Dish Network about ten years ago, and Viacom tried to pull the same BS then. Viacom tried to extort more money out of DN. Viacom even pulled their channels from DN for a week to put the screws to 'em. Now Viacom is doing the same thing to suddenlink.

Give it a week, and they'll negotiate a deal.
