I had an emergency blood transfusion last night. Didn't know doctors still did that.

Did this "doctor" wear a flowing black cape and compliment you on the smoothness of your neck?Luke wrote:I had an emergency blood transfusion last night. Didn't know doctors still did that.

Yup. I was poking mad at Hobie, for reasons still unknown. i wanted to say something silly to make Hobie a bit less a stick in the mud, but failed horribly. >See even that came out wrong. A gentle ribbing didn't come out right. >That didn't sound right either.Jmustang1968 wrote: It was a joke on Luke using it a few pages back...
yeah. The health thing.
I feel fine, so I try not to worry. As I've said before, a doctor shouldn't need a scale. You either look healthy, underweight or overweight. I am very much number oriented, but stats aren't the final word of every thing (although life would be easier if they were). So what does my babbling even mean? It means I have trust issues, and I know that if I'm well, the doctor isn't making money. Horrible way to look at things, but I don't trust most people. However, I do trust my internal medicine duder and my hematologist. They're honest enough to say to my face that they have no clue what's going on. ...Not what I want to hear, but at least I know they are being honest.
If you remember anything from your high school health classes, white blood cells are basically the d line of your immune system, and the red blood cells provide the gatorade so te guy s give it all they got. By gatorade I mean fuel, or oxygen. So without a normal "RBC" red blood cell count, your white blood cells start flopping like ManU in extras.
My hematologist said "Fuck" (and she actually said fuck) and gave me an emergency transfusion as she went white after taking a count.
Getting more testing done on Monday, and blood has been taken to check for human error, which is what I'm betting on. Having a hemoglobin level of 5.4 without feeling dull witted is insane. My RBC is around 2, and all other sorts of stuff is kriss kross.
And here is some of the run down questions I get asked which makes me think something has to be WAY off:
Do you have diarrhea? = No
Blood in your stool? = Eww gross. No!
Loss of appetite? = No
Weight loss = Yeah, but I'm at a healthy weight
Lack of sleep = nope
Decreased libido = Poppin' a semi right now
Memory loss = No more than usual
headaches = no
feeling sluggish = nope
loss of vision = no
So it's weird. I feel fine, and have some other dude's blood in my body right now. Not even sure if the transfusions was needed, but I'll heed to a doctor's opinion, especially when I see a doctor about to pass out. That was weird. Seeing a doctor of blood look faint was odd. Didn't help that she called me a "walking corpse".
Eh. I'll be fine.
One thing they are testing for is a return of HSP. So rare, but my symptoms and blood results do seem that HSP could be an issue.
Sorry to be Chatty McCathy, but in the long run, as long as I feel fine, I'm not worried. Besides my veins feeling like tubes (which they are) I'm pleased as punch.
