I am sure she can see the satire of some of these games but the problem is like Sload Soap stated, there is a big difference between reading or watching a character than controlling a character. When you have choice over their actions a lot of the satire is lost because in a limited scope you are making your version of the game.

What I am pretty sure about is that the developers of GTA know most of their audience isn't gamers playing to appreciate their satirical world. What's the point of your work being satirical if the things you are speaking against people are taking as the opposite?

Video games are a more involved medium that don't need the same tricks as other mediums do to create character development and atmosphere. Not saying they should never use these tropes but to try and branch out more.

If interactivity makes a game's message worse, then I would argue it's not a good game not that being interactive prevents games from tackling satire.

Well, what's the point of a work being comedy if some people aren't going to laugh? It would be extremely sad if we had to make art according to the tastes of people who don't get it.

It's also a very paternalistic position, that of telling people they cannot have art because they won't understand it. And it's not like GTA is exactly the pinnacle of difficult satire, either

lol brought to us by the American Enterprise Institute, a right-wing "think tank" funded in part by ExxonMobil.

This video is terrible in so many ways, but her dismissal of the harassment Sarkeesian and other have received was especially gross.

I don't think it's an interesting video (It's basically "There's no conclusive evidence games cause sexism just like there's no evidence for violence" with some "It's what the market wants") but the ad hominem of "Oh no, a conservative think-tank!" and erasure of the woman who made it by turning her into a whole group is fairly displeasing.

I don't know it's simply a banal video and I don't think there's an interesting philosophy behind it.

Well....to be fair when it comes to quality it's right on par with Sarkeesian's work, so I guess it's got "that" going for it.

This entire subject has gotten so boring because it's obvious it's just another battlefield for "left" and right wing Americans to fight over. For everyone else, it's just silly.

I am not so sure it is a left/right debate...

What's so terrible? I also didn't like the way she dismissed the harassment Sarkeesian received.

It's not, it's just some people are made sexist by video games. I mean didn't Anita Sark say the most radical thing you can do is listen to a woman? Seems very sexist of a self proclaimed feminist to just ignore what a woman has to say.
