How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?

OK so I just got Actraiser in the mail today. Kinda shocked because before I went to bed, I checked the status of it and it left Missouri a couple of hours before I went to bed.

Anyway, I bought it for a good deal on Amazon, and the seller posted pics and said it was not in good condition aesthetically because of stickers and ripped warning labels, etc. which is fine because I can deal with stickers (because I can remove them). So I get it today, and initially (from the photo), I thought the "PROPERTY OF HOLLYWOOD VIDEO" on the bottom of the cartridge on the back was a transparent sticker.

So let's look at that......

No. That's not your imagination. The "PROPERTY OF HOLLYWOOD VIDEO" was carved into the game cartridge by these jackasses.


Now I know why Hollywood Video went out of business, because of shit like this.

I've seen that a few times, and there's little you can do about it. Best choice would probably be to just swap it with the back part of the shell from another cart.

That's what my Golden Axe II looks like that I bought form Blockbuster Video in the 90s. They branded their junk too.

Sucks, but at least it is neatly branded instead of someone trying to use a dremel or a wood burning rod to messily mark the shell.

I'm going to say my snes gaming is going great now especially even if I'm using a r5(for space saving reasons and it gives me access to the genesis/md library). I mean I finally added ff 4-6, alchahest, bahamut lagoon, and chrono trigger in one fell importing swoop (which means either now or in a few games i'll have to order the bitboxes for those...since I already have some bitboxes for my nes games and I want to keep it consistent)

I too have seen the Hollywood Video brand, and no, there's nothing that can be done beyond what Ziggy suggests.

I actually have one that I got off a forum member here. My plan was to make a guide with pictures on how to make it look a little nicer. Actually, it was two N64 carts IIRC. One had cracks in it, the other had the Hollywood Video engraving (or is it melted in?). I was gonna fill it in, sand it down, then spray the cart. It will never look like new again, but at least it would look better. Never got around to it though, just like plenty of other things.

I figured as much that you can't really get rid of the engraving on the cartridge. No big deal though. At least it's on the back and not obstructing anything like an end label. I did take the big sticker off of the top of the cartridge so that's nice.

Really, the only thing I want when it comes to cartridges for the SNES are, A) end labels have to be intact, and B) no damage to the actual board/pins/etc. that would cause my game to, oh I don't know, NOT WORK.

Maybe over time I will replace the back part of the cartridge, but right now, I'm actually too busy playing it to care.

Well if you clean the stickers off and decide that you're OK with the Hollywood Video thing, here's the back sticker if you wanna replace that torn one...

Just bought my first SNES.

What's the best way to play famicom games (like DBZ: Hyper Dimension) on a SNES.

I saw this:

But it doesn't even look like you have to do anything to the board?

If this method is fine, will it affect the way regular US carts are secured inside the SNES?
