So one game that I had never played, and one that I have long thought I'd never beat, since I gave up on it as a kid.
Sonic the Fighters was pretty exciting and fairly short too. I understand it's an arcade game. I played through as Sonic and only had trouble against some of the ranged fighters. Once I changed my tactics I did fine. I beat Eggman too in the final stage before time was up.
Sonic CD I didn't get the best ending by getting the time stones, I don't think I have the knack. Still, it was cool to see that cutscene at the end and beating this game I have long tried to complete. One of the better Sonic games on the Genesis, I recall not getting past Metal Sonic as a kid and being frustrated.
Not to rag on Sonic any more (I've done enough in this thread) but I loathe the "best ending" requirements in every Sonic game and find those bonus stages to be really fickle and annoying.
Sonic CD does rule though. Played it earlier this year and enjoyed it quite a bit. Probably in my top 10 for the year.
I'm with you. The only one that I found to be tolerable was Sonic 3. But that's because you can go back through on your saved game and replay some stages. Some would say that's cheating and/or cheap, but it just seems tiresome to get lucky or be skilled to go through on one playthrough and get em all. Props to whoever bothers to.

Which OST did you play with? I love both.
My problem with the special stages in most of the old Sonic's... is that I always do great on them until the last one or two and then it's just game over. I hate how inconsistent the cycling is too, I think in Sonic 2 you have to pass a special stage to progress to the next ones, but in Sonic 3/K they rotate... so if I fail one I'm gearing up for a rematch, then instead it throws another level at you. Always found that annoying for some reason.

US then. Well the XBLA/PSN version has some cool new options and you can choose the soundtrack. Both are really awesome.
Wait... how did that version not delete your computer?
I still own that version myself and remember whenever I installed it, I think it just instantly wiped or cleared out whatever directory it was being installed to way back on my first computer. Think it happened twice and I lost a ton of stuff once. Hilarious looking back on it I guess. Was that something some old PC games did back then or what? lol
All I can say is that my version had to be patched and compatibility settings had to be altered to get it to run in the first place. But it was smooth sailing after that.

Ninja Ryukenden 3- I took the easy way out (isn't that a song off Rocky 4? Good song) and decided to beat this on the much, much easier Famicom version. I would comment on the story but, alas, I don't speak/read Japanese. And I haven't youtubed the English version as of yet.
Gameplay wise, I really enjoyed this one. Much more than Ninja Gaiden 2, but not as much as the first one. Ryu's "huh" sound effect after every swing didn't bother me. I really liked the sword add-on you could get for your Dragon Sword to increase its reach. I also liked the sci-fi/futuristic theme the game had going on.
Without unlimited continues there is no way I would have finished this. So I bow down to the people with the skills who are able to do so. You are a true ninja!
