I guess it's just more of a general sense of negativity towards both the Xbone and Microsoft, something I've heard everyone from Mike Matei and James Rolf to AlphaOmegaSin and Angry Joe insinuate, which are all big names in the gaming community. The XB1 launch in Japan was also a dismal failure (not surprisingly) and word is sales over the summer have been quite slow as well.Opa Opa wrote:Can you expound on what this "bad press" is? Re: Xbox One
I have been asking tons of people who are buying games for their XboxOne how they like their system and this has been their universial response. "Eeeehhhhh....it's good?"
Of course I get that same response from PS4 people too.
And nobody is buying WiiU games.

Re: Xbox One
When did Titanfall come out? I don't think I've turned on my Xbox One to play anything on it since a week or two after that.
Actually, I may have played 5 minutes of KI and then remembered that I don't like playing modern fighters with a pad and that I don't want to buy a stick for a console with one fighter.
It's a huge toss up as to which console is more disappointing: the One or the Wii U. Both are pretty shitty, especially compared to their predecessors at similar points in their lifecycles.
The PS4 also a bit slow to mature but it is better than the competition in that it at least has had some exclusives I enjoy, PS+ stuff worth downloading and playing, or the "best version" of a few games. I wouldn't advise anyone to buy anything but the PS4 for current gen stuff.

I've seen very little on the ps4 that interests me. I really wasn't big on the ps3 indie freebies on ps+ either. *shrugs*
Different tastes I suppose.

I didn't think so either, but he has around 250k subs on his channel - that's massive for a dude that just sits around ranting about games with zero production value.Xeogred wrote:Retrogamer0001 wrote:AlphaOmegaSin... which are all big names in the gaming community.

That's pretty much the vibe I get as well. I have an Xbox One and quite frankly if people want to say the PS4 is better they're welcome to. As you said, the performance of the multiplat titles seems to be slightly better on PS4 so I won't argue. To be honest it's all very 'first world problems' to me though. Not to be dramatic but it's hard to rage over Diablo's framerate skipping once in a while when you consider everything going on in the world.Opa Opa wrote:Can you expound on what this "bad press" is? At the end of the day the truth is neither system comes anywhere near blowing me away. My friend has both. Basically I chose the Xbox One because at least they were trying some new things, even if they were arguably misguided things. The PS4 is a somewhat nicer PS3, which there's nothing wrong with either, and it was $100 cheaper than what I paid at the time.

Re: Xbox One
I'll tell you what: The controller was the least exciting thing for me PRE-launch. I guessed as you did: Same controller as the 360, slightly different look. The truth is though that I love the controller.Sano wrote:Thanks for the input! How do the controllers feel? (I am guessing they are about the same as the 360 controller) How fast are its load times?
They made some legitimate improvements. The thumbsticks are a little nicer. The matte finish is nicer and feels better. It's lighter. The battery life is shockingly great. Most underrated I feel is the haptic feedback with the rumble. The vibration has all kinds of different feels. In racing games the vibration reacts up and down as you rev the engine. In Titanfall if you shoot a steady stream of missiles the vibration stutters along with each shot. It's my all-time favorite controller.
As for the load times, I can't really compare but one thing I hate: It has the whole thing where you have to wait for the game to install when you first pop it into the system. Then 20 minutes later or whatever you get to finally play. The PS3 had this and I thought it was horrendous. I'm sure there's some technical reason why they had to do this, but it sums up my whole thing with these new consoles: they take one step forward and one step back.

Not sure why this would do well in Japan. Are there even any Japanese games on it yet?
