You really should, it's a better single player experience too

I still consider Mario Kart 64 to be the apex of the series. No game since has been so simplistic yet so satisfying.

I don't think it's held up well. If anything Double Dash has aged incredibly well, but Mario Kart 64 is quite barren and slow.

Has anyone else grown tired of Mario Kart 8? I can't even be bothered to ace all of the cups because of the amount of times I've come 1st in the first three races, only to mess up on the final lap of the 4th race.

Ain't that all Mario Kart games? I manage to get 1st place in all races in Mario Kart 7 and I still don't get 3 stars in some cups

I don't really like Double Dash much, if I'm honest. I replayed it a couple of weeks back and found it 'meh'.

Wow, people actually liked Double Dash? Color me shocked.

I played it once, like 11 years ago, and I did not care for it at all. I thought the whole 2 character mechanic was......eh, no thanks. I haven't revisited it since. Maybe it's better now? I dunno. All I know is, if I'm playing a Mario Kart with friends, it's going to be Mario Kart 64 every time.

Mario Kart 64 IS barren and slow. There's a reason in Mario Kart 8 Rainbow Road throwback is only a single lap of the entire track, split up into three segments for the "laps".

We had a lot of fun with Double Dash in college, each person solo on a cart. I thought the driver switch was interesting because you could hold items for later in a more robust form than the standard drag system, and the special items were common enough that you could make interesting choices between doubling up on the drivers for a particular special item vs. going with two different ones.

I own four copies of Double Dash for a reason. Now if only I could get a 4th BBA locally... MK64 is barren on some tracks, but I have always found it balanced and it had the best battle mode - thank you Double Decker.
