I paid ten total but I had trade credit... eBay auction would be $20 maybe?

As pertains to Ryse or the system on the whole?

Just the system as a whole. All the little things it can do and does with or without the kinect. I am a through and through Sony fan-boy, but I like to learn as well. I don't know anyone that has an XBox One, so I have to ask about it here.

Must be a slow news day at kotaku. Up next: sky is still blue and compasses point North!

Sorry for double-post (but it's worth it!)

Forza 5 is free with Gold starting today until September 8. I'm quite happy. I was considering buying it. Now I don't have to. :)

Edit: well shit. It's timed.

Of course, throughout the weekend and after it, Xbox One owners can purchase the game and continue their racing adventures.

"After the weekend, you’ll have the option to purchase the game online from the Xbox Store or visit your favorite retailer and continue playing. You will also get to keep your Gamerscore and achievements earned while playing, so invite your Gold friends to play and see who has the best driving skill."
Guess that's what I get for reading too fast.

The only thing I use the voice for is "Xbox Record That". It's just nice to have when there's a 'whoa!' moment in a game you're playing. I have a nice little Titanfall kill montage I edited together one night when I was bored. Nice for when you stumble on a glitch or something too. Is it essential? Absolutely not, I just like it now that it's there. You can still record clips without the Kinect though I should stress that, but in multiplayer games you won't want to stop in your tracks to go to the Home screen.

I use it to 'Unsnap' menus that pop up too. Again, not essential at all just easier. I imagine a lot of people use it for "Xbox On/Off" as well. I'd wager those are the main functions above.

Seems like Xbone is getting some bad press lately, especially amongst the YouTube community. I know if I was going to buy a next-gen console, it would be PS4, no question.

Thanks for the input! How do the controllers feel? (I am guessing they are about the same as the 360 controller) How fast are its load times?

Can you expound on what this "bad press" is? The only consistent issue I've seen is that multiplats are slightly inferior to PC/ps4 versions.
