Wish I could hang with ya Flake, but I bought it on XB1 (several of my IRL friends got it there).Flake wrote:Is that really an issue? I am primarily playing solo and I'm still very early in the game - Act I.
As an aside, I'm loving the gauntlet / Phantasy Star Online feel the game gives me.

Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

Probably for multiplayer if you play with random people who then use hacks. Otherwise, no, I don't see how it would be an issue.Flake wrote:Is that really an issue?
You liking it so far? Had you played D3 at all on PC?
I'd be especially curious to hear thoughts from someone who played the PC game recently (post-RoS) on their thoughts on the PS4 port. Reviews have been good, of course, but I'm skeptical of non m/kb controls...

Yes, enemies DO coordinate their attacks to create the fewest possible openings for the player. You'll also notice a lot of enemies using keep away tactics and battles where you have to deal with other enemies shooting at you in the distance while someone is in your face attacking you. Knack's ridiculous, baby arms reach don't make matters easier either.Tanooki wrote:Maybe I'm not getting it, but is there some trick to Knack or is it designed that way that enemies just seem to time much of their shots to kick your ass while landing after hitting another enemy or evading their shot/swings at you? I'm liking the set pieces, the story, the character though he's far too fragile, but the cheap repeats over and over again even just in to like world 2-4 of the game is pushing me to a near fury.
Knack is a shamelessly cheap game. That's just all there is to it. Accept this now, or play something else (and I wouldn't blame you if you did). All I can say as someone who has played through the hardest difficulty setting (haven't killed the final boss yet though), is to make use of any area that has a lot of crystals by smashing them, killing yourself, and repeating the process until your super meter is full. Then just bust out super attacks whenever you get into a hard fight. Your most useful upgrades are going to be anything that increases or improves your super attacks. So consider that when deciding between parts whenever you find a chest. Super attacks are pretty much the only thing that keep parts of this game from being impossible. Beyond that, just use hit and run tactics whenever you don't have a super attack ready to go. Knack is a weak, brittle, pathetic little wimp who dies easily on any difficulty. Even giant Knack takes damage like a bitch in many parts of the game.

Alternatively, you can play this much better game:

Goddamn Gamer... that's just depressing as I like the style, not the poorly designed abuse. I found myself repeatedly eating it on normal and just whittling away targets until the next checkpoint and no game should be like that as it's like a one bad rerun of micronightmares. I wish I could find this one post I did before I made that thread, really wish I bookmarked it, someone figured out how to cheat the system when doing the jump attack so that you punched instead of getting into a ball as they claimed that basically would evade most abuse and do more damage. I haven't touched it since I complained, went back to slowly working on Tomb Raider.

Re: The PS4 thread
So, apparently my grandfather is going to buy me a PS4 for my birthday here in just over a week. I think I might have preferred the Xbox One in the short term for Forza but at the end of the day I know there will be Gran Turismo and Persona on the PlayStation so I'm definitely not complaining. Not that I would be anyway! My grandpaps is awesome.
So I'm thinking Alien Isolation and Shadow of Mordor to start off. I was looking forward to seeing how Drive Club would turn out but now that I've seen it, it just looks so awful.

Shadow of Modor is excellent. I should be finishing it soon. It evolves the Batman combat system (curious to see how Arkham Knight will compare) and adds some fun elements to Assassin's Creed style stealth mechanics.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:So, apparently my grandfather is going to buy me a PS4 for my birthday here in just over a week. Yeah, and that's not even delving into the Nemesis system (which won't be in the last gen ports making it a truly "next gen" gameplay element). It adds a personal element to the game and gets around game overs, something which the last Prince of Persia game was trying to do too, but in a less interesting way.
There's a wonderful layer of strategy to the game given the numerous strengths, weaknesses, and fears enemies have, not to mention the variety of ways your abilities, foes ,wildlife, AND environment can be used to your advantage.
The story is well presented, with decent characters, dialog and comedy (though I hear the ending is a bit disappointing)
Currently my game of the year. Perfect for anyone who likes:
The current Batman games
Assassins Creed
Golden Axe (you can ride animals)
Conan (The game makes you feel like a medieval fantasy world bad ass swordsman)
Lord of the Rings (obviously. You're basically playing as a much more bad ass Aragorn with supernatural powers)

Re: The PS4 thread
I like all of those things and as a result it might very well be my game of the year once I get my hands on it. I watched the Giant Bomb Quick Look of it and I wanted to go right out afterwards and buy it. From everything I've read the current gen and PC versions of the game are the only ones to get. Seems like most people think the Nemesis system is what makes the game. In any case I definitely liked what I saw of the combat and like you, I wonder how Arkham Knight will compare.

DriveClub is a good game, in my opinion. I don't really get the hate (apart from the abysmal and unacceptable server issues).
