What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
The movie might be worth watching if it explains why the hell Christmas means all the Gentiles wear hideous sweaters.

Late reply, sorry about that.Sload Soap wrote:Michi wrote:That said though, while he does display some obvious raw talent, he probably should have skipped the acting roles. He can pull off repulsive criminal quite well (surprisingly well, actually), but physicality is not his strong suite, so the moments where he was scuffling with the housewife were almost head-shakingly bad.I thought I was a reasonably big Johnny Cash fan but I'd never heard of this film. From what I know about him, at that period of his life repulsive criminal wasn't too far away from his on tour persona so this role wouldn't have been too much of a stretch.

Thanks for the great write up though, I'll have to check it out somehow.
I didn't know about this Cash movie before either, and part of that may have been because, for some inconceivable reason, they changed the title of the movie from Five Minutes to Live to Door to Door Maniac. This was a silly switch for two reasons: 1) They didn't bother to change the Title Card, so even though my DVR lists it as Door to Door Maniac, five second in the movie still has the Five Minutes to Live title taking up the screen alongside a bloody hand, and 2) Cash sings the title song no fewer than three times during the movie, drawing out the phrase "You've got five minutes to live." a couple times to the terrified hostage.
Just because his character imitated a door to door salesman doesn't mean you should go and change the title of the movie. Stuff like this is the reason people have trouble keeping their Final Fantasies straight.

I finally saw Guardians of the Galaxy. It was all the things. Scratched a lot of itches.
I loved it.

Pretty good for a haunting horror flick, but one scene involving a cat was just hilarious.

About to go see a free showing of Alien tonight at the Drafthouse. Pizza, beer, and Alien on the big screen should be a good time.

So is it worth tracking down? I've read the book Hell House, and while I generally like Matheson, it felt like a trashy '70s update to The Haunting of Hill House, so I haven't seen the film yet. It's on my list, as I enjoy a good haunted house movie, but the book seriously annoyed me.Pulsar_t wrote:

Haven't read The Hell of Hill House, but if you enjoy retro horror this one should be worth a rental at the least.Ack wrote:So is it worth tracking down?
