Where can I find reproduction cartridges?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Where can I find reproduction cartridges?

Post by glynnahab »

Anyone know of a good site that sells reproduction game carts? I've come across a few sites, but none have anything really worth buying so far.

Thanks in advance.

RetroZone sells parts for making your own, as well as new games. But that's just for the NES side.

For other systems, IDFK.

But personally, I'd love to get in on that racket.

Also, I found a site on how to put certain games like Mega Man & Bass and Star Fox 2 onto real Super NES carts.

And RaphNet has some instructions on making homemade NES and Genesis flash carts.

I've always found mine via buddies on forums like this. I know of two guys who do repros. one does genesis and one does super nes. Both do good work with the tools they have and charge 30-40 per game (some of these are damn rare)

but being rare doesnt count when you are making them yourself. I'd consider paying a premium for a rare original copy, but a pirate copy of a rare game? forget that

seriously. i completely agree with /\ and couldn't have said it better myself.
Thanks, but no thanks. Why pay for a cart n' all, when i can just get.............it..................for.....................free???
I'm not here saying i pirate everything, because my massive collection of 14 consoles and 200+ commercial games shows i support the industry. But take for example this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Suikoden-II-PlaySta ... 240%3A1318

who determines the inflated values??? Why pay an exorbitant amount of money for a game, when you can emulate it, or buy it legally thru VC (if you have a wii)

Sorry to getting off topic. Not trying to turn this into a piracy thread and it's morality (if there is such a thing) but you would have to be a fool to pay that much for a still illegal ROM that happens to be on cart form.

For me, playing games on the original hardware is always better than on a PC. I have a complete neo-geo romset, yet continue to purchase MVS carts. Why? Because I play them on my system. It just isn't the same on PC. I have even tried using original controls connected to a decent PC (connected to the TV) and it still doesn't have that same awesome feeling as gaming on the orig hardware. Just my 2c.

I'm sure there are different opinions here.

This is a common topic here.

I agree that playing games on the original system does somehow enhance the experience and I enjoy collecting, but would I pay £100 for radiant silvergun? No, I'll just play my burned copy and if I can ever find it for cheap then I'll buy it.

I can see the appeal in having all your games in one box and obviously not having to pay for them. I recently got a modded original xbox and thats highlighted just how convienient it is to pick up the controller and play games on all sorts of emulators

I find services like these useful, but only for the purpose of owning a physical copy in your native language. They are not legal in my country, like most of yours I suppose, however I have no problem with owning a reproduction copy if I already own a legitimate copy - for example my Famicom version of Final Fantasy III and my NES Version from NESreproductions. In the end I did end up paying $30+ for a rom replacement but playing a game with the original controller on original hardware (complete with slowdown), is more satisfying than the emulated version even with an original controller.

Though emulation does have the advantage of savestates, but that is a discussion for another forum.

I am curious, otaku, but where do you find groups that do Super Nintendo Games? I have always wanted translated copies of Godzilla: Kaijuu Daikessen and Seiken Densetsu 3.

The only site I've visited has been Game Reproductions. They have some cool stuff though, including Earthbound Zero and the Dragon Quest games for SFC. One day I'll get around to getting a DQV cart myself.
