I've been reading a lot of weird reviews on GOG and Steam lately. The people give the game 5 stars or a thumbs up (respectively), but they trash the game. I've also seen the opposite, where they talk about everything they liked about the game, then give it 2 stars or something. People need to stop smoking crack.

Not as bad as the Amazon reviews for PC games where one star seems to mean "I couldn't get it to install / too much DRM / it didn't ship on time."

It is the Newgrounds reviews all over again.

"This game is unplayable. You can't get past the title screen...5 STARS!"

"I LOVE THIS GAME IT IS AMAZING OMFGWTFBBQ...1 STAR!"

Some do it to be funny, some do it because they honestly don't know any better and others don't even know they are doing it.

I've actually noticed it's very easy to do this when writing a review of a flawed game that is nontheless enjoyable. I've had to revisit articles once they were practically done because they were too positive or too negative compared to where I wanted them to be.

In the case of draconian DRM that's intrusive like pings to a server every 30 seconds for what is essentially a local single player game and things like that I can see where it would be a valid way to voice complaints and try to affect change. I imagine it was too little too late, but Sim Cities was changed. But certainly user error or technical issues on the customer's end aren't fair reasons for that nonsense.

Does Goldeneye 007: Re-Loaded play more like a PS2-era shooter (timesplitters 2, nightfire) or a a crummy 007 Legends/modern COD game? Is Blood Stone (or another bond game) a better option, if I only have a PS3?

It plays a bit in-between I'd say.

The game has a big following on here (at least the Wii version). Had lots of fun playing it. Great story mode too.

Reading about the possible Sierra revival has made me want to bust out the old classics. Maybe I'll fire up my desktop and monkey around with eXoDOS... God damn I miss Underground Gamer :( No idea if we'll ever get an update on that pack at this point, or the Windows set he talked about.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed
Chronically out of date BST thread
