I think the FLUDD mechanic of that Mario game wasn't bad, just unique, it really was just another costume of sorts really. I can not even understand why someone would want them to jack the game up adding motion controls. They do nothing but hinder the flow of gameplay in platformers having to waggle a controller in the process of doing normal stuff.
I am going to disagree again with you on the motion controls for sunshine. The reason why Sunshine was not as liked as previous installments was that the majority of time, players had to stop moving to aim and shoot the FLUDD. With motion controls, you don't have to do that.

Analog stick moves, A jumps, B fires the FLUDD and you point at the screen to shoot. You can now aim, move and jump without any need to stop and aim.

No waggling necessary. Motion Controls do not equal waggle controls. How do people still not get this?

Anyone who says motion controls hinder a game or refer to them as "waggle" controls, has not been playing the right games or has not seen motion controls done right.

After playing Pikmin with motion controls, I couldn't go back to the Gamecube originals.

I actually preferred playing Pikmin 3 with the Wii Remote and Nunchuck because it was that much better. You could aim a lot more easily and never had to line up your shot like you do with the gamepad or pro controller.

Exactly! That's the only way I can play Pikmin 3.

I said waggle because how the Wii was misused mainly for that, I used it as a cheap shot. I do 'get it' I just am over it, sold it, want nothing to do with it anymore. The pointer had a select few valid uses, but it usually was abused for gimmicky flicking and other poor things. I loved using it in a first person shooter environment as dual sticks are not ideal, it was almost like using a mouse. And on the mouse idea, any game with a point and click to move things or oneself around like a Pikmin game or a RTS type game are perfect for it.

Um, I have no idea how in the heck I missed this newer trailer of Xenoblade X from June:

Holy monkey balls. Space, all that mecha, oh man this is gonna be so much better than Xenoblade. And I loved Xenoblade. I think Monolith Soft is gonna get crazier with this one, as Tetsuya Takahashi has often stated. Story should probably be Xenogears level crazy I hope.

Did you watch the hour long gameplay session they did at E3? It is definitely shaping up to be an awesome game.

Just because companies utilized the hardware poorly, does not make the hardware bad. You yourself state some of the positives of the motion controls, yet earlier you state that those controls, implemented in a game that would benefit from them was, "jacking them up." Sunshine would be a much better game with motion controls for aiming the FLUDD while still moving and jumping instead of having to stop and aim. If you are done with motion controls, that's fine, but that does not mean they are going to disappear any time soon.

I keep thinking of going back to Xenoblade, but it's such a time dump, I'm not sure if it's worth it. :| The new one looks like it'll be a lot better.

I took a big break in between Xenoblade myself, but I easily thought it got better and better as it went.

And yeah I saw the gameplay vid for X, definitely looks like some nice improvements. I love seeing the damage number splashes heh.

I got bored of Xenoblade Chronicles. I wish I could get back into it though.

I can't wait for the new one. It looks awesome.
