If you have not done so already, you should see Haywire. It is a very good action film directed by Steven Soderbergh(!) and starring Gina Carrano, who I am pretty sure could kick my ass. Moreover, the fight scenes are beautifully choreographed and absolutely brutal. It was available for streaming on Netflix, and I highly recommend it.MrPopo wrote:I liked Ronda Rowsey's fight scenes because they seemed more like real fighting, rather than some of the "girl fight" fighting that can happen in movies with the female characters. Then I looked up her Wikipedia page and discovered she can kick my ass six ways from Sunday, which explains the quality of the fight scenes.

Off topic but hopefully in the next year Rousey will get a chance to fight Currano, if Gina will come to terms with the UFC. Since Gina last fought 5 years ago, and really is marginal at best, Ronda will prolly rip her arm off lol. She is leaps and bounds above every woman fighter not named Cyborg on PED's.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Yesterday I streamed me beating 3 Ninjas Kickback for the Sega CD, because why the fuck not!?
To commemorate, I watched the first two films, being 3 Ninjas and 3 Ninjas Kickback.
This was during the era of ninja movies and the popularity of Home Alone, making a strange amalgamation of kung-fu and whacky physical comedy falls. These films are both horrible and amazing at the same time. Now on to SURF NINJAS!

Am I the only one interpreting Koteas' expression as "Why am I stuck doing this crap?"

Awakenings
In the wake of the posthumous reveal of Williams' Parkinson's ailment, Awakenings sure hit me in the emotional sternum pretty hard, not that the film itself isn't an effective tearjerker in and of itself.

Williams movies in general are going to hit me harder for quite some time. People were talking last week about watching his movies and for the first couple days all I could think was, "Nope. Can't do it. Doesn't matter what it is, it'll make me cry."
Then on Saturday I'm scrolling through the channels to see what's on and notice that the Disney Channel is playing Aladdin. I thought "This is just silly. I like Aladdin." and put it on, knowing they had to be showing it in honor of him, a theory that was confirmed when I realized they weren't showing any commercials. I smiled, laughed, made it all the way through without getting choked up once and was completely fine.... Right up until the end.
"Genie, I'm gonna miss you."
*Sobs*
Well, I tried.

Last night I saw "Moonraker" for the first time, finally.
totally impressed with the visuals, stunts, Jaws, and Goodhead's snarky character. Moore's already looking old and inept, though, jesus.

Exactly.Luke wrote:And usually, not always, but usually when you buy the Blu-Ray you also get the DVD and a digital copy.dsheinem wrote: For that price, why not just buy the DVD or Blu-Ray? That people pay real money for digital copies of movies continues to blow my mind.
Man of Steel does come with a digital copy. It's UltraViolet, and I believe those codes can also be redeemed on iTunes in addition to UV sites like Vudu or Flixster.
Also, the BluRay+DVD+DHD+UV on Amazon is only $13
Digital Copies should be something given as an additional convenience copy. But going out and explicitly buying a digital copy baffles me.
Doesn't just apply to movies.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Thing that bothers me is the other day is I saw a commercial advertising a movie as a Digital Exclusive for around $15
. Can't remember what the movie was but they didn't even mention anything about a physical release in the ad which kind of threw me off
.
I'm fine with timed digital exclusives but if they go full blown digital only that would be a huge turn off.
