Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
I nabbed a boxed "Atomic Purple" N64 set for $40 this past week, in very good condition. Now, all I need is a boxed SNES and my boxed Nintendo console collection is complete.
Not counting variants of course.

Awe man that Duke box reminds me of all the big box PC games over the years that I used to have and kept complete for awhile, but eventually tossed the packaging.zombi wrote:I love mail day![]()

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
I took a day trip with the wife to Ashland VA, but along the way we decided to stop for lunch in Fredericksburg. As we were walking to the restaurant I looked inside of a cool tattoo shop and couldn't believe my eyes! Sitting inside said shop was a Super Contra arcade cab. I ran inside to see if it was an original, to my surprise it, was and the artist sitting inside turned it on for me and let me play it, for as long as i wanted to (or at least til my wife got bored). It wasn't for sale, but the fact that it exist and that i was given the opportunity to play it was enough for me to consider it a find and worth sharing with you guys.

Arpuhguh? Fffpiss? Bah!
"Shmup" is far more elegant!

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
I took a chance on a purchase with no pictures and no real description of what condition the game was in since it was 75 cents + $3 shipping .
This type of gamble worked out for me in the past (i.e. getting me a boxed Splatterhouse 3 for ten bucks).
Well once again taking a chance came through for me:

No manual but the box and cartridge are like new.

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
yo get that shiz VGA graded son
Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
^ It already has been graded. I think the classification falls under "Approved by Dsh."
This last week or so my favorite thrift store has been good to me. First it threw some carts and an Xbox game at me.

I love them, but they should really yell "Catch!" before they chuck stuff at me.
Rocky
Pilotwings
Outlaw Volleyball: Red Hot
=$3-$1.50 each
The Rocky game must be a straggler from the SMS pick-ups I found earlier. Whoever put it out obviously didn't know what to do with it, as I found it with the cassette tapes. Not really too keen on the Outlaw Volleyball game, but I figured I'd give it a shot. And Pilotwings is a double to be added to my "stuff to sell/trade later" pile.
Later, I found these hidden in with the music CDs:

Beyond the Beyond
Master of Monsters: Disciples of Gaia
Midway Arcades Greatest Hits
=$1.50 each
All the discs look practically new and come with their manuals, though the Midway manual has suffered some slight water damage so some the pages are a little...stuck. But the RPG manuals didn't suffer the same fate, so I'm a happy camper
I don't know about the rest of you, but every time I go in a thrift store I always check out the VHS tapes. Not so much because I'm looking for a movie, but because I'm always hopeful that a boxed game of some sort will sneak into their midst. This has only ever worked for me twice: Once when I found Super Metroid in an old rental case and once when I found an SNES basketball game.
And this week it didn't work for me again. Instead of finding games thanks to my near-religious perusal of the VHS stockpile, where do I find them? In a plastic bin in the toy section.
*Sigh* I love you, thrift store, but your logic confuses me.

Top Gear
Super Strike Eagle
Tetris 2
Super R-Type
Claymates
=$1.50 each
All the games retain their inserts, manuals, and plastic protectors, with the exception of Super R-Type, which is oddly missing it's manual, but not it's poster. The lenticular image (Hobie will be proud) on the front of Claymates is peeling off, but I don't think that's anything a little spot of glue can't fix. This also means that my cart-only copies of Super R-Type and Tetris 2 will join my copy of Pilotwings in my "stuff to sell/trade later" pile. All in all, a good week.
