Most recently I watched the RoboCop remake. Yeah, it wasn't too hot. I would not recommend it over the superior original.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I just watched:

Femme Fatale (2002). Written and directed by Brian De Palma, it is a lurid thriller that follows the beats of a 1940s film noir. I liked it, but I did not love it. Roger Evert did, however, and apparently, it has garnered a bit of a cult following. Accordingly, I am going to hold onto my copy for another viewing.

How had you not seen this!? It is still one of his best, I think. M.Night ain't got nothin' on Fisher when it comes to twists.Stark wrote:One of my fave Douglas movies.noiseredux wrote:Just watched The Game, the only Fincher film I hadn't seen. Man, I love his work.

So...I'm going to admit that I didn't know the name David Fincher until you mentioned him, Noise. Upon looking him up on IMDB, I see that he directed a number of movies I like.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
You guys have reminded me that I need to see Panic Room, which I think is the only David Fincher film I haven't seen yet. I saw The Game in the theater and the twists Dsh is talking about warped my fragile little mind.
Last night I watched Ang Lee's The Wedding Banquet, which I knew nothing about beforehand and was pleasantly surprised by what a fantastic screenplay it was. Without really spoiling anything, the premise is that a gay Chinese man who lives in New York is being visited by his parents from the mainland who don't know he is gay and are trying to find him a bride. Watching the intricate lies he weaves to protect his secret is both hilarious and depressing. I also need to watch more Ang Lee films. Each of his films is so different, but everything I've seen has been of high quality: The Ice Storm, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Brokeback Mountain, Life of Pi, and Sense & Sensibility. It's hard to believe that they were all directed by the same man.

So The Expendables 3 is exactly the movie you're expecting. As an aside, it's kind of a weird feeling that Sylvester Stallone is old enough to be my grandfather and can kick the ass of 95% of the people he meets.

Just got back from it. Only bummer was that it was supposed to be on the brand new large format screen the theater near me just put in with all these new reclining seats and everything, but there was a screen issue, so they had to move us to a smaller regular theater, it took ten minutes after all the pre-show crap to get it started because the screen image froze in place and it felt like I was in a sardine can because the place was so packed, but seeing the other 2 films in the series, if you're a fan you won't be disappointed. Same action and comedy mix with lots of in-jokes and references.

I went on an Honest Trailers binge and discovered they're making a sequel to Independence Day. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I worry they might try to make it serious instead of just saying fuck it and letting Jeff Goldblum go crazy.

That's been going on for years now. No Will Smith, so I'm out.MrPopo wrote:I went on an Honest Trailers binge and discovered they're making a sequel to Independence Day.
