Seems to be a regional thing. Most people I know up here in upstate NY take shoes off when going inside a house. Most of my friends from college though who DIDN'T grow up around here thought it was weird -- often, they assimilated, but when they first got here they thought it was an odd mannerism.

I just hate wearing shoes (and to a lesser extent, socks) so I take any opportunity to ditch mine. Also why I wear flip-flops baaaaaasically any time I can get away with it (essentially any time there's no snow on the ground, unless I'm going somewhere I'm expected to wear real shoes like work)
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed
Chronically out of date BST thread

Shoes, that aren't filthy or muddy, track less dirt than socks or bare feet.

Prayers, homey. Please keep us posted.
Went well although late into the night, now we're hoping for a speedy recovery. Gonna be tough with Sara being a stay at home mom and me with a new job that is far away, glad we have the support system we do.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

When I get home it's bare feet 24/7 better traction on the floor, and blood circulates a lot better. Only downside is the bottoms of both my feet are just a massive callus. Upside to that though is it takes quite a bit of force to puncture it so I can go hobbit style outside without hurting my feet

As for the whole shoes indoor thing taking them off is a sign of respect in some cultures and I'm sure that the custom arose in a lot of areas where soft/absorbent materials were used commonly as flooring since deep cleaning a carpet is a bitch.

It is also a cleaning thing. Having everyone remove shoes in a mudroom or foyer, you have alot less outside dirt tracked throughout.

Smile: Got a great job offer.

Frown: Can't take the job because I signed a contract stating I would not work for a competing company in the same industry for two years after leaving, when I first got on board.

Crap.

That sucks. Even if you got canned that is still valid?

Speaking of that, I had a great meeting today with a recruiter. Seemed promising.

Think I'll just take the gamble and not go back in at CVS... I'll call and tell them I resign, minus all the bad stuff (my anger has cooled, a little!)...

It was actually blocking me from some other potential offers throughout the summer. There was at least 2-3 agencies that had better offers, but because they cooperated with CVS, they couldn't "pull" me from one company to another (does make sense)... I just got back in touch with one company that had an offer a few dollars higher than what I was making along with better hours, so there's that too.

I have some savings and such to tide me over just a bit. For once, it's a risk I'm willing to take. I'll see where life takes me...
