I went to Gamestop and pulled the trigger on Metroid Prime Trilogy. They allowed me to check all the disc's, manuals and cases to choose the best one. The disc has never been used it appears. No scratches or marks at all. It didn't go to those processing/refurbishing centers since it was missing the sticker or markings on the disc underside. Manual is spotless, most likely ordered through Nintendo. Case and cover is good too. $50.

Cool. That's an uncommon find. I have 3 sealed copies of this game which I'm hoping will accumulate value over the years. Oddly I found them in Sweden (normally ridiculously expensive for games) on a cheapo sale at a big electrical retailer. I bought the entire stock (four copies, one of which I opened to play) knowing it had been discontinued and was fetching high prices on amazon/ebay etc.

No tin case. But I wanted to play it since it's been a long while I played the Primes. I was in the middle of playing Prime 1 when I was flooded in 2012 and lost the game and tin. Slowly getting back my collection.

Ebay has commanded a high price for the tinned variant. I'm good on that.

(Could we even call the GS refurb/resale a veriant?)

Probably, and objectively speaking, probably the rarer version.

Not that the game is actually rare, seeing how most Gamestops seem to have a small pile of the white case version, just saying, Gamestop probably didn't conjure up more of those copies than Nintendo originally printed of the collector's edition.

I suspected your copy was not the original case, during the Metroid Trilogy and Xeonoblade buyback last summer all copies went to the Refurbish Center. Gamestop tossed out the scratched tin cases, the idiots!

We didn't get a snazzy tin case with the PAL Metroid Prime Trilogy.

I think we did slightly better with the Last Story and Pandora's Tower boxed sets, both of which are beautiful PAL releases with steelbooks, art books and (in LS's case) soundtrack CD's.

Chances are they didn't do that with many, if any. They had the games reprinted. It's been fairly widely reported, and I know my white case Metroid Prime Trilogy disc looks brand new (I have a steelbook copy too, but it's sealed).

At the time, their used price for Prime Trilogy was around $70. If they got a complete version in good condition, one would think they'd have just put it on the shelf.

My disc is definitely new. I see, under lighting, no circle marks, middle ring scratches (from removing and inserting the disc), and no buffering marks from scratch removers. As soon as I saw the disc with the flawless manual and cover art I snapped it up.

It's gotta be a reprint.

At the end of the day what's important is that I got the game I wanted and will enjoy the hell out of it.
