I said the new TMNT was fun. It is, for the wrong reasons.
I stand by saying it's worth seeing, and it really does stand alone.
Starts out with a bang, has a few genuinely funny moments, and then somehow corrodes. And quickly at that.
If this movie was a record, it would be titled "April O'Neil and the Turtles". That's where the so bad it is good stuff comes in. Not only is there a super long scene of April riding a bike for no reason, but I believe you could create a drinking game based around how many times everyone hits on her.
To restate, Shredder's armor is a bit insane.
Some of my pals have said things like "this movie basically broke me" and "pointless", but I find it a perfect fit for a shit-a-thon.

Just watched Bad Words 
Turned out to be alot better then I was expecting it to be. Was planning on picking up another movie from Red Box but they were pretty well emptied out

Anyways it is a decent movie. Jason Bateman was funny and while a lot of the humor was centered around the cussing they didn't rely to heavily on the shock value of dropping an F-bomb every other minute. He also pulls some down right evil tricks on kids that blew me away they definitely didn't limit themselves when it came to the mature jokes. Plot is pretty straight forward and simple, and the cast was pretty good aside from Kathryn Hahn who I just never really have cared for. Definitely well worth renting for a little over a buck.

Guardians of the Galaxy. Enjoyed the crap out of it. Very fun movie to watch. The jokes all seemed to work out pretty well. Audible laughs in a theater at only 20% capacity or so.
The post-credit cameo is pretty interesting, too.

I just watched Mood Indigo. I missed it at the Seattle International Film Festival and was happy to find it swiftly arriving at the budget theater that is literally one block away from where I live.
The movie was a feast for the eyes with everything presented in visual metaphors and symbols, as if part of a make-believe world or some extended dream sequence. It gets at the heart of how things feel, rather than simply what they are. For example, when people start dancing, their legs become long, bendy, and silly looking. When people are depressed and anxious, the walls literally close in on them.
There are plenty of fun quirky inventions, such as the pianocktail that mixes drinks with synesthetic flavor to match the tune you play, or a record player that emits lazer oscillators that dance around the room.
I really loved the vision of this film and the cinematic language through which it was told. I've never seen any other movie like this. It dared to be surreal in a way that is rarely seen in film, except perhaps with movies like Brazil or Un Chien Andalou. My main trouble with the movie is that I didn't like the plot, and though I loved when it was happy and whimsical with little stop-motion animation, I found that when it turns dark it turns oppressively bleak and becomes hard to enjoy. Nevertheless, there really isn't anything else like it and it's visuals are simply movie magic.

Just finished watching "I Am Divine", the documentary on the legendary performer Divine, known for his work in the films of John Waters.

Last week I saw A Most Wanted Man. It's nice thriller based off of a John le Carré novel, so if you're at all familiar with John le Carré's work you should know exactly what to expect: espionage, terrorism, betrayal... You know the drill. Hoffman is excellent, though seeing him up on the big screen and knowing that he's gone was quite saddening.
Also saw Guardians of the Galaxy today and I don't really have anything to add that hasn't been covered in the last few pages. If you enjoy Marvel movies then go see it.

Have you read the novel? I'm a big le Carré fan but haven't read this one yet. Good to hear about A Most Wanted Man. I saw Guardians over the weekend and it is my new favorite Marvel Film. Before this it was Cappy, but Guardians was just a solid film through out. And the much to my wife's friends dismay, no one will be able to make an authentic Starlord costume. The jacket is silk screened vegetable tanned garment leather, which went out of style in the 70s and no one makes it anymore. That and his walkman went from $300 to $700 on ebay:
