Watched Caveman today.
As bad as it sounds, although a bit funny. Stereotypical, but whatever, I liked it for what it was. Not really something I plan on rewatching though.
What was the last movie you've seen?

Seasons don't have to be capitalized unless you are referring to a specific year or a proper noun (e.g. Summer Olympics). I was referring to a season.Luke wrote:dsheinem wrote:I am so ready for the end of "summer blockbuster" season and for good movies to start coming out

If you ever want help with your writing, just let me know. I'm happy to polish up your grammar, spelling, and punctuation too.
I saw 3 or 4 movies this summer, I guess. X-Men: Something Something, Planet of the Apes: The New Batch, and maybe 1-2 more? I plan to see the new Sin City, if that counts...

Took the lady out to see Guardian's of the Galaxy and we both enjoyed it immensely. It's one of those movies where you just feel like you're along for the ride and I had a grin throughout the whole movie. Loved the action and the sense of humor. It didn't have much of a plot, but it was so much fun that it really didn't matter. The opening scene left me completely unprepared for what was to follow, but the scene immediately after sets the mood for the whole thing, and it's just the kind of groove I like in a popcorn flick. The character interactions were great. Won't say much else about it, other than it's definitely worth a viewing.

I most recently watched La Belle Noiseuse

This is essentially the stereotypical foreign film that you always hear dude-guys complain about for being long and boring, but they tolerate it because there is lots of nudity. Meanwhile, it's a critical darling.
It is 4 hours long, with hardly a cut made in the editing as you watch a model be painted by an aging artist to create his final masterpiece. The lovely Emmanuelle Beart is fully nude throughout almost the entire movie. But if you want to get into the depth of the meaning of this movie, being naked is just the beginning to peeling away all of the pretensions and disguises of one's persona to get at the truth of one's own soul, and the courage it takes as both an artist and a model to go through that creative process together. It's largely based on Balzac's short story "The Unknown Masterpiece" and explores similar themes, but in a dialogical manner, rather than via a predominantly introspective method. It's a very different approach to film making and you feel like you witnessed the whole thing in real time, because you largely do, given the limited editing. For some, that is exciting and adds a reality to the cinema that isn't often felt. For others, it makes this film feel impossibly long. I am somewhere in-between those two.

LADY AND THE TRAMP
Amazing that this year was made over sixty years ago, and was released fifty-nine years ago.
The animation is great, the story superb, and has the Disney classic feel to it. Because it is a Disney classic.

City Hunter
Probably one of the goofiest Jackie Chan movies I have ever seen
. For a story about a terrorist hijacking they managed to keep things really light with a boat load of comedy mixed in. This movie also has some great scenes which are totally out there
. Such as the Street Fighter showdown later in the film and the movie theater scene with Bruce Lee.

Had a lot of fun watching this would highly recommend it

Words cannot describe the Street Fighter scene from City Hunter. It must be seen to be believed.
