Annoyed: I've spent about 8 hours the last two days loitering at the mall so my games can download to my laptop.

Then don't front. Sure you need to be strong, but if you let her know "I love you now more than ever" that will provide heartfelt and sincere encouragement.

Be her Teddy Bear if you will. Don't express any opinions, simply hold her or let her hold you and let her air it out. It's calming and works wonders.

You've got this.

Thanks again. You know, I had you pegged wrong man. Sorry if I was harsh with you before. When you come from the heart, you're a good dude.

This is very similar to what I actually chose to do. I forgot for a moment how strong my wife is and that she is my support system too. I just laid out how I was feeling inadequate and like I couldn't do anything to make things better. She was really great about it, and she said it helps her to know that I am having similar feelings and that it scares me too. Like usual I'll let her guide me on the best way to be there for her...I don't know why I ever considered anything else.

It's good advice.

:D My friend's mother keeps delivering for me. Picked up another 20 games for me at 2 bucks a pop this weekend -- Gamecube, PS2, PSP mostly this time around. Mostly $5-6 games, a few that were only $2-3 games, a couple that were $15 games... my 6th and 7th gen collections, which were always lagging behind, are finally getting some love. And so far, with over 50 games she's acquired in 3 weekends, she's gotten 1 duplicate and 1 sports game (I told her "No sports unless it's like part of a package deal you're getting a great price on"). And she's been pulling them for less than $3 a pop so far.

So basically I just work a single 4-hr overtime shift every 2 weeks and it's paid for! Heck, these next 3-4 weeks I don't even need to do that, because they give me a small amount of overtime for training!

Big :( of TL;DR
Girlfriend's ghosting out on me. She's a bit of a luddite - her cell phone is a flip phone, which she shares with her mother (who lives down the street from her), and she has no facebook. The last month and change she's barely been home, because she had a blowout with her roommate and has been couch surfing while trying to find a new place, so getting her on the home phone has been basically impossible. And then on top of it all she lost her job. So there's been a shitload of stress in her life. Unfortunately for me, this translates to her being basically impossible to get a hold of (she's a couple hours away and, as previously noted, couch-surfing - so trying to drive to see her isn't really a possibility either). Last time I saw her, everything was utterly fantastic, probably one of the best weekends we've ever spent together. Last time I talked to her on the phone, she reassured me that it's not a problem with me (because I'm needy/paranoid/low self esteem sometimes), she misses me and can't wait to see me again, etc etc, just her stress levels right now because of everything going on keep her from really thinking about calling or anything, and said she'd try to call me when she could but she had no computer access for email or Skype.

So basically... I have no logical reason to believe that I'm getting dumped (we're adults, we didn't have any sort of fight, everything about when we have contact is still great), but it's been so long since I've had any sort of regular contact that I can't really help but assume the worst.

But I'm not the type to cut and run. Not my style, especially considering I'm crazy about this girl like I have never been before (and we're over a year in, so this is also my longest relationship at this point, it's not just infatuation). I'm gonna stick it out and hope that her life calms down soon. Heck, last time I tried the cell phone and got her mother, even her mom said she hadn't seen her in a week at this point. Just gotta keep on keepin on.
Sorry, that was long and rambling, I just needed to vent.

Happy Birthday! Don't cry, it'd be silly. You've got such an inspirational signature!

No worries.

I know where you are coming from concerning control. In my experience, most guys feel very frustrated when there is nothing they can do to change the situation. That's because it is frustrating. Accepting an ordeal is like swallowing your pride; tough but necessary. Keep doing what you are, and all will be well.

Merry Birthday Catnip. (There's a Trading Spaces reference in there).
