All perceptions, I guess. I've never really noticed games feeling choppy on consoles, but who am I to say you haven't? Perception is reality in many cases.
Where I have found games choppy? On my PC
Of course that's because I've never really been a PC gamer, so I build my PCs as giant file servers more than anything. During the period where I first got into WoW, I would rock out the 10-15 fps at minimum graphical settings, sometimes less during big raids. Eventually I bought a (reasonably) competent gaming computer and was able to do 60+ at max settings. Y'know, for an ancient game. If I had played Crysis or something, I'm sure it would've choked still.

Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed

Agree, most of the console games are optimized for it versus the PC games which have to meet so many different configurations of memory, video card and bus speed.KalessinDB wrote:All perceptions, I guess. Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Optimized? A PC gamer probably read that as "downgraded"
They are usually consistent though.

Sorry, but all I could think about after reading this was:CRTGAMER wrote:Agree, most of the console games are optimized for it versus the PC games which have to meet so many different configurations of memory, video card and bus speed.

Even if games don't always emulate well and get a bit choppy, there is one big perk to using the PC.
On the Dreamcast, I can play Dreamcast games. On the PC, I can play Dreamcast, SNES, Genesis, PS1, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Sega CD, Game Gear, Sega Master System, Sega 32x, NES, Virtual Boy, Atari 2600, Intellivision, Colecovision, Neo Geo Pocket Color, Nintendo 64, PC Engine, MAME arcade games...oh, and PC games.

Oh I understand. 9 times out of 10, I will emulate, even if I own the game. Sometimes though, I just want to lay on a couch. Nothing beats that.Ack wrote:Even if games don't always emulate well and get a bit choppy, there is one big perk to using the PC.
