Never thought about that one. How does one maintain a rigid sphincter while sleeping? Still sounds like a good idea. No matter what.

@Luke

I have the whole restless leg syndrome and should probably do some pushups. That may really be the answer. Normally, I would say that my mind tends to race when I try to sleep, but this instance was completely the opposite and I had no real way to cope. I have the urge to run... a lot.

When it comes to activity, my current job is all about activity. I am moving a lot and staying very active. I think that the problem is that I can't wind down properly from that level of activity. Maybe pushing myself even more physically may be the trick.

Reading is absolutely not possible, as it stimulates me. I never understood how reading can calm a person as it has always made my mind a blur with imagination. I have at time stayed up until 7 AM reading for 9 hours straight books from great authors like Arthur C. Clarke.

I appreciate all the help everyone and will definitely try some of the suggestions.

The trouble with excess worrying at night is that we are often too tired to inhibit it. Worrying can be useful during the day though, because it helps us plan for the future. Another thing to try is scheduling time to worry/plan a few hours before bed. During that time, plan, organize goals, put things in your calendar, and write out to-do lists. Then, once you find yourself starting to worry while in bed, just remind yourself that you already had your scheduled worry/planning time for the day, you have it on your schedule for tomorrow, and you're not going to solve anything in bed that you can't solve with more effectiveness when you are well rested and working things out during your scheduled worrying/planning time. Everything else is just crazy middle of the night thinking that is a waste of time (and sleep!). Then, just focus on something that helps you relax, like dreaming up those sitcoms or whatever. It's kind of a way to trick your brain into shutting up for awhile so you can get some peace and quiet to sleep.

:? Went out to the Stoney Larue concert last night, and it didn't go as well as I might have hoped. The cost ended up being more than we expected because they didn't advertise the fact it went up after a certain point, and we didn't stay as long as I expected. We were out by midnight, so I felt jipped out of some of the time I payed for, but I didn't have much of a choice. Had fun either way, but going out to all this stuff and not being able to drink puts a damper on things. Also affects your chances with the ladies, because even the underage ones are looking for 21+ so they can get some alcohol out of it. And it doesn't seem like there is ever anyone our age when we go out. They're either about 14, or 25 and up, with nothing in between.

This.

A lot of people I know with sleep disorders have them because they procrastinate and say "I'll do it tomorrow morning", and "it" keeps them up all night as they could have "put that to bed" that day. It's the anxiety about awaits for them tomorrow that keeps them awake.

Thinking of Sophia Loren in her prime is calming too.

You're doing it wrong, and so are they.
