And we're all different, but when someone says "I'm pregnant" and the Father doesn't go ballistic with joy, I do get a tad upset. Even if not at the opportune time, you made life.
So weird that we live in a society that is obsessed with children, yet we have famous talk shows based on "You are" or "You are not the Father".
Smile: Meeting was succinct, and I had a gravy biscuit. Yum.

But sometimes you've also made a mistake, and going "ballistic with joy" would be entirely insincere. Ideally, pregnancy is a happy occasion. Often, that isn't the case.Luke wrote:

frown- holy hell am I out of shape. Attempted to swim some laps, actually get use out of the nearby pool, was floundering and swallowing water five (not even full length) laps in. Gonna have to work on that.

I am 34 with a 16 year old daughter. I was not exactly ballistic with joy when "I'm pregnant" was uttered, I was just barely 17. However, when she was born...that is another story. In fact I had the exact opposite issue in that I couldn't stop churning out kiddos when I was younger. My 3 children are 16 (last month), 14 (15 in November), and 11 (12 in September). Not a single one was planned. I was happy about the pregnancy of the second and third though, as I knew what a gift it could be. Sadly, we also lost one 4 months in...so I know that pain. He or she would have come between my 14 year old son and my 11 year old son.dsheinem wrote:But sometimes you've also made a mistake, and going "ballistic with joy" would be entirely insincere. That said, I was the youngest man to have ever received a voluntary vasectomy when I went in for the procedure. They spent an hour trying to convince me not to, until I explained the situation. Then he promptly stood up, shook my hand, and said "Alright, I'll see you on thrusday."
Still, some people just don't want to have kids, and those folks really shouldn't. Nothing wrong with that decision either. And, while I can't relate, I can certainly sympathize with those who have waited and planned for the right time and then have such difficulties in having children. My heart goes out for you two and your significant others.

Now I'm not talking about castration but vasectomies.samsonlonghair wrote:^

It is my understanding that due to certain medical issues they have "medically necessary" vasectomies which doesn't exactly fall under voluntary. In general when you are under 30 and don't have children (or sometimes when you do), a doctor will be really hesitant and perhaps even flat out refuse to give you one. I guess because they expect a lot of people change their minds later in life.flex wood wrote:Wait they have involuntary ones?jp1 wrote:I was the youngest man to have ever received a voluntary vasectomy when I went in for the procedure.
I should also clarify that I don't mean to say I was the youngest man (in a world record kind of way) but, the youngest that particular Doc who had been in practice over 20 years had ever done.
My wife would like another baby now for instance, but I stand by my decision and she respects that.
