It's actually pretty muggy here in NY too. One of those nights I'm totally 100% fine with being at work -- I do not pay for the A/C here, and it's almost always on pretty high because of the 125ish computers in this room.

Yeah... soon as I finish paying off my renovation (which keeps getting delayed because, frankly, I'm an idiot who has lost all self-control everywhere -- spending too much money, eating like an idiot, not working out like I should be... so that's a big :( /  on my part that I really just need to flip the switch in my brain and fix before it goes from "mildly annoying" to "an actual problem") I'm making the appointment to get fixed. I'm 32, I have accepted that I have absolutely zero desire to have kids of my own and nothing's going to change that.

So I hear you on that epiphany.
Kids were never an option for me. Maybe down the road if my partner wants to adopt, but otherwise... nah.

Same here. I'm just saying, for years people were like "You'll change your mind, you'll meet the right girl, she'll want kids"... no. I won't. And at 32, I've decided that's prettymuch final. I haven't ruled out the fact that I might meet the right girl who already has kids, though it's a pretty slim chance since "No kids" is one of my things I check for before starting to see someone, but I do not want to have any children of my own, ever.

And the thing is, people get so fucking offended when you say "I don't want kids". They get all "How could you be so selfish?" and "Its really the best" when you know they were bitching and moaning about their screaming meatworms nonstop when they first popped out. Just like when someone says "I don't want to marry" or "I'm asexual/aromantic". My observation at least.

I don't mean any offense to people here who do have kids/are parents. I'm sure they're wonderful and you are great parents.

It goes so against the innate biological drives that it's akin to you telling people "I enjoy eating rocks".

We're on the same page here I think. People look at me like I just kicked their grandma in the face when I tell them I don't want, or generally like, kids. Sure there's exceptions, I've met many kids that I kinda-like, even the rare one that I genuinely enjoy, but for the most part, no. I have no desire to look at your 800 baby photos. I don't think it's cute when they throw their food everywhere (I'm thinking of the "BRING ME ANOTHER SMURF" meme picture). Etc. Etc.

I definitely think there's some biological memory wiping that goes on. I have a friend who has 3 kids of her own, and her husband has a 4th by another woman that they have primary custody of. She will complain, loudly and often, about how she has no time to ever do anything, and that they're always broke. And then, often in the same conversation, she'll talk about how she wants more kids. And when I point out that her kids are the main source of her lack of time and money, she'll be like "Yeah... but I miss being pregnant!" So there's gotta be some sort of hormonal witchcraft that goes on which I guess I just don't get.
