Yeah. It really added to the game's atmosphere and made the areas where you are rushed by multiple enemies more enjoyable.graffix_13 wrote: Yeah, that's what I hear. Unfortunately I have no Wii anymore. I assume you moved with the nun chuck and aimed with the motion control in your other hand?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Re: Games Beaten 2014
Remember when I posted that "Power Rangers: Beats of Power" game? Well, since then there's been a new version (v1.3) and I just beat that one yesterday.
I left a comment on how in the previous version if you lost all your lives and started again with a new character, you could have played as a Megazord in a street level. Don't know if that meant you could have played as a Ranger in a giant monster level.
But if you play it, if you go off the character select screen you can find hidden characters. In the Ranger Select screen, you'll find a green silhouette and if you click that you'll play as the Green Ranger. On the Zord Select, you can do this and play as the original Megazord from season one OR as the Dragonzord.

I played an hour or 2 of Metroid Prime on gamecube and thought the controls sucked. If I ever try it again it will be on the Wii.

Easily the best racing game to come out in years. Seriously. Sure they had to cut the framerate to 30 frames per second to get the open world and dirt track stuff in but the game is gorgeous, packed with content, and very very fun. Forza's engine is really something.
However, not all is great in Horizon. While there is a ton of content on the disc they take every chance they can to push paid DLC in your face. It's also a bit on the easy side on the default difficulty, even with all the assists turned off (as they should be, except ABS, that can stay).
But overall, an excellent game. Can't wait to play Horizon 2 (hopefully on an XBO) this fall.

REmake-I have to be honest...I was kind of let down by this game. BUT! That isn't to say I thought it was a bad game, quite the contrary. I love the Resident Evil series (well, 1-4) and even though it was a LONG time ago when I played the first one way back in 1996, I remember loving it. So I was excited to play it again on Gamecube (one of the main reasons why I bought a Gamecube) with updated graphics and a few new things added.
I guess this was just a case of getting my expectations up too high. I don't know what I expected. Some of the new features added were great like the defensive weapons and 180 degree turn. But some of the added features just felt out of place to me, like the cabin in the woods and Lisa Trevor. Those just felt like typical 'Halloween' elements when the overall theme of the game (for me) was survival horror with zombie elements. If that makes sense. (They also changed how to get the Colt Python...I had to check online to make sure but I knew it seemed different from the original).
It sounds like I didn't enjoy the game but that's not the case. I went in expecting it to rival Resident Evil 4 and, for me, it wasn't even a contest. From a pure 'survival horror' perspective, I would probably put RE1 first, but overall RE4 is still the best RE game and it's not even close.

This game was actually pretty fun, though I really stunk at the sections with the guards half the time, and had a hard time finding stuff I was looking for sometimes. But I have admit this is the first time I've actually really attempted to complete a game(besides katamari since there's no guide for that type of game that'd help me) without much use of a walkthrough. I've really got to get better at doing these games without those. My only minor annoyances with it is that I really wish I could've had better ways to get out of a trap or that maybe those guys walked a little slower or something. But the graphics were pretty interesting and fit it pretty well and it had some nice doses of comedy thrown in. Either way glad to of finally beat it.

Star Fox 64
After my 11 year old Brother-in-Law acquired himself an N64 that had Star Fox as part of the collection, I had to fire it up and beat it. It has been about 12 years since I previously beat Star Fox, but back then, my friends and I would spend hours playing it, getting all the medals and playing multi-player with the tank and ground troops.
I still have it, beating the game through the, "Hard," path and getting a few medals along the way. This game really is the best in the series and is such a joy to play. Oh the nostalgia! To play through that path in particular still reminds how impossible it seemed to stay on it as a kid. For the longest times, levels like Zoness confounded me as to how I was being put back down into the easy path. Those were the days when the game didn't completely tell you what you needed to do, and the internet wasn't an easy tool to guide you.
Shadow Blasters
Thanks to the delightful Racketboy Christmas In July Secret Santa program, JoeAwesome gave me some great Genesis, PC and Gameboy Color games to add to my collection. One of these games was Shadow Blasters. Having never played it and having the urge to plunk some time down on a classic game while being a couch potato, I fired it up. First off, the game is very difficult! some of the enemy patterns can be incredibly frustrating and take a lot of practice to figure out which character is the best to play as.
Shadow Blasters is a side scrolling platformer/shooter where you traverse levels as one of four different ninjas, each with their own special abilities and weapons. When you die, you have to select another character to continue the game with. With all 4 dead, it is game over. Luckily, the game offers you an easy continue to keep going without having to start completely from scratch. I actually beat the game twice. The first time, just powering through to the end. The Second was more deliberate and attempting to really give it my all. Although I had to resort to a few continues, for the most part, things went smoothly.
The Rock Golem boss from the castle garden level is just impossible for me. I can not seem to get his pattern down at all. That was the most difficult part for me and I just power through him, cause I can't see the pattern at all. Another difficult level was the forest level. Jumping from limb to limb was tough enough, but having to fight enemies and having the branches break from underneath you is outright suicidal.
All in all, I enjoyed it. The final boss fight was beyond easy, however. At first I thought it was impossible, as when he touches you it is game over. Luckily, I learned to run away and then just turn, fire, run over and over and beat him flawlessly.
Thanks JoeAwesome!
