Smile: Drove to Winston-Salem yesterday to shake hands with a few Gallery owners and check out the art scene. Looks encouraging.

Shocked: Just a few hours after I passed through East River Mountain tunnel, this happened:

I had to find an alternate route home, but mostly I'm thankful I wasn't there at the time. If I had left for my road trip just a few hours later, I would have been caught up in that.

Ticked: The tunnel closure from this caused increased traffic on windy mountain roads that were never meant to handle Interstate traffic or tractor-trailers. This yields multiple wrecks on other nearby roads.

You know, I think my next road trip will be to Asheville. I'd like to see this city for myself. Research seems to indicate that this is one of the most artsy cities in the Carolinas.

Pissed: Too much went wrong today that I don't have the patience to explain in detail, so I'll summarize everything. My mom now hates my boyfriend, I spent the whole day travelling to an event that barely happened, my student loans have been denied yet again so I might not even have classes next semester, living at home for the summer is becoming more like walking on eggshells than usual, I keep screwing up at my journalism job, and I think I just lost a really good friend in a political debate.

:D - USPS insurance claim check came in the mail. I was just about to call them too because I hadn't received a reply in nearly 2 weeks. I read a lot of horror stories so I thought the chances for my approval were squat. Although, I do think they should send you an email saying the check's on the way.

This. This. This.

Oh man, my hope is that they got the licensing rights for cheap and that they sales threshold they need to call it a success is not too high. I'd love for them to go ahead and start bringing over more of the Sentai seasons, especially ones like Goranger or Dairanger. Hell, I'd even pick up JAKQ if they brought it over.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

:? Moving. As I've mentioned here several times, the wife and I bought our first house (we've been renting from my in-laws for years). We decided to forgo renting a truck or hiring movers because the house we bought is less than 2 miles away from the one we've been renting and because we don't own that much furniture. But holy shit, getting stuff over here has been slow going. I assumed that I would simply move things at night after my daughter goes to bed, but somehow a 1 year old manages to drain me of every ounce of energy. By the time she goes to bed I feel like hitting the sack too. Eight days after closing, I am finally able to spend a night here - as I moved the mattress today. No bed though - I don't own one!

:x My father is visiting tomorrow. I am dreading this because, to be blunt, he's a pain in the ass. One of those hyper-critical know-it-all types who always must have the last word. Any piece of flecked paint will be commented on, he'll find structural damage where none exists, he'll beginning listing off 1000 projects that must be done immediately lest the house collapse where I sit. You may be wondering why I would even invite him over. I didn't. Like every single other visit of his it's a self-invite.
