One Day As A Lion

I finally gave this a proper listening to. It's a lot more interesting than I originally thought.

It consists of Zach de la Rocha (vocalist of Rage Against The Machine) and Jon Theodore k(drummer of The Mars Volta). Apparently Zack played an old keyboard, mostly through an old metal guitar amp, did the vocals, and Jon did the drums. Pretty simple.

I've heard Jon Theodore compared to John Bonham, and I can see why. The mash up here is fantastic. Zack is doing his hip hop style vocals with Led Zeppelin drums going on.

When the EP came out (just 5 songs) I read that they said they'd add more people to the group. Then, I guess, do a proper album. But, I haven't heard any news about them since the EP, so, I guess they're not doing anything with it.

Any one else ever listen to this EP?

Still not tired of it

Seriously been listening to that album what feels like almost non-stop and I haven't gotten tired of it yet...

Though I have been listening to a lot of vocaloids too:

- Purple butterfly on your right shoulder
- Story of Evil
- Bad end night(along with the other songs that go with it to make it a full story)
- World is Mine

Man I'm sure I'm forgetting a few but dang i just keep jumping between babymetal, vocaloids, and Hikaru Utada(and a few visual kei bands)

I'm in the same boat right now. Babymetal and vocaloids non-stop (aside from a bit of NIN yesterday).

I've been listening to this on Beats and I think it's one of Al's best. His gauche take on Pharrel's "Happy" is hilarious. His grammar nazi send-up of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" is probably going to get posted every time somebody has horrible grammar online.

His originals are surprisingly some of the best songs on the album though. Jackson Park Express is a wonderfully odd song about a creeper's imagined romance with a girl sitting across from him on the bus, which sounds a bit like Neil Diamond. Mission Statement strings together a bunch of business-speak nonsense in an emotional ballad where the juxtaposition highlights how empty the words of the business world really are, all while riffing out on some anti-corporate Crosby, Stills, & Nash guitar hooks. Then there's My Own Eyes, which could easily be mistaken for the Foo Fighters.

Make sure to watch his website. He is releasing a new video each day for eight days. At time of posting, he has released Tacky (Happy), Word Crimes (Blurred Lines), and Foil (Royals).

I've always been partial to Bad Hair Day, but this new one may be the best Weird Al album.
