Good luck with the future Luke! I've worked soul-rending jobs before and felt the repercussions of it for years afterwards because the wormed their way inside my head. Nevertheless, I'm also much more grateful to people that treat me decently, and nothing boosts happiness quite like easily accessible gratitude. I look back and think at what a crazy person I was to work for someone where I actually halfway wished I would get in a car accident or something so I would have an excuse to leave. At the same time, if you quit, you don't get unemployment or severance. They want you to quit because it saves them money. You screw them over more by making them fire you, and you're better set for a brighter future if you can get past the headfuq of a horrible boss. Sometimes getting fired is the best thing that can happen to you.

I get about a week off every month, and even though I rarely do anything besides maybe go see my girl for a night, two if I'm lucky (have I mentioned before just how badly long distance SUCKS?), it's always very refreshing.

Of course... if I didn't work my ass off doing doubles and working on my days off all the time to GET that week(ish) off every month, I might not be as burned out by the time my time off comes up. A viscious cycle, but one I enjoy.

In all sincerity, thanks pals and gals.

I know I've made some personal connections with a few of you, but the outpouring support on this site is crazy. Best website ever. (well google is pretty great too).

Think most duders would have gone bonkers, so I'm proud of myself of the way I left. Cool as a cucumber and actually passed on leads to new customers.

I'm pretty sure my boss realized she fudged up royaly by letting me go too.

I stopped by some super hot prospects today to let them know I was let go, and they still want to do business, 1099 style. One thing is that my company doesn't do well with any company that isn't...um...redneck.

It's complicated. But in short, I'll be making 100% commission for a few select businesses, while also seeking a full time career, be it here or in Chicago.

So I'm Betsy Ross. Shit is sewed up and not worried about Nathan.

Yeah, I've already planned to do the 100k maintanece on my car and may that's going to hurt just like that....good thing I'm getting some help from my dad to get it done...(especially with how much that costs  )
Is 100K maintenance really needed?

In general though, I tend to avoid a lot of maintenance and work that other people get done on vehicles. I don't personally see a need for most of it, and a lot of it tends to be stuff that is practically made up to suck up a bit more money out of consumers.

'Course, I've also gone a week and half having to start my car by spraying into the carburetor, and have been known to cut the wires or pull the fuse for the check engine light, so...

Scheduled maintenance is usually a good idea. Maybe not strictly necessary by the most exacting definition of the word, but it usually works out as "Pay me now or pay me later" and I for one would rather pay an expected maintenance fee than have an unexpected "Aww crap" repair come up that could have been prevented with scheduled maintenance.

My brother's been selling cars for 23 years now, and he will always say that an oil change (or whatever) is the best 20 bucks you can spend on a car.

70K to 100K usually includes timing belts (or checking a timing chain if so equipped). That's a must do if you have an interference engine.

Didn't think about interference engines. 'Course, the majority of what I would ever consider driving would never had one.

I dunno, I must have better luck or more tolerance for crap than most people on cars, a lot of things people get done just seem wasteful to me.

Glad to hear you're handling it alright Luke. Always take care of yourself first. :)

The last month all I can think about is how hard life is. Too hard sometimes.

It's preferable to the alternative though.

Frown: I feel like I have the potential to do brilliant things in my life. No motivation to do them in the last month or so though. You'd think that recognizing the problem would help but it hasn't gotten me to kick my ass in gear yet. Sometimes I think I might like being a physicist, or some field working in science. I don't know. I want to do something worthwhile that enriches both my life as well as others.

Smile: Should know if I got the job Monday. The idea of having money coming in is nice and I think it would help to have that stability. I've decided to save as much as is reasonable whilst pursuing my CompTIA A+ and Network+ certs which will allow me to get my foot in the door working IT. I'd like to move out again by May of next year with a big fat financial cushion.
Older. Not wiser.

Ticked: I'm trying to do my tax online but the darn website keeps on crashing. Well done, government... well done.

Smile: I basically get the next week off work and I get the house to myself. Many a Shenmue 2 will be played, and many a beer will be drunk :P
