Better than 399 that I bought mine at. And hopefully you've had ps+ and grabbed all the freebies so you'll have some great games to play at the get go(I know most are indies but they're fun :P )

I don't even know what to buy on it, I'm thinking the new Wolfenstein game looks really awesome on it. Either that or watch dogs. I do have PS+ already for my Vita and PS3.

Oh and Far Cry 4 looks frigging amazing, loved FC3 and I'm sure FC 4 will look loads better than the ps3/x360 versions.

I'm telling you grab ps+ freebies, I was doing that for the longest time with ps3 before I got one earlier. Now I've got a decent library for it, and honestly the indies once you get past the fact that they are indies they're pretty decent on ps4. I just need to get around to showing my ps4 some love and playing the indies that I do have on it. My backlog is huge on every system I own and just gets longer with every growing day...kinda frightening...

PS3s are $270 on Amazon. Now can some one explain to me how is it that a 2013 console costs only $90 more than a 2007 console? That price difference is almost that of a new gam.

The regular price of the PS4 is still $400, and the Destiny bundle is set to be $450.

The $270 PS3s are all game bundles (ther's a Lego LoTR one, an Amazing Spider-Man one, and a Last of Us one). The base model PS3 is $200, but it's the 12GB model.

There's a chunk of the system that's dated tech to be sure. What I'd also consider, however, is that there's also a bunch of parts that aren't necessarily any cheaper to put in the old console. Sony doesn't produce hard drives, for example, so a 500GB drive is a 500GB drive whether it's sourced for a PS4 or a PS3. The cost difference in the BD-ROM they put in either is probably negligible. Plenty of I/O or other controller chips likely aren't very different. Either controller still needs to pack in a lot of the same stuff. A battery, sticks, motors for rumble, whatever. Any licensing fees for video codecs or whatnot still apply.

It's going to be hard to reduce the build cost of a PS3, or a 360, the same way that past generations were.

It's very easy to get a PS3 for sub-$180 these days, $270 is too much to pay.

Plus, I suspect that the PS3 is still in more demand than a cheaper 360, which is why it can command a higher price even used. The PS3 still has a lot of life left in it.

Doesn't Sony sell PS4 systems at a loss and make their money selling the software? I don't see much point of Sony lowering their prices on PS3 to have the lose more money especially when they are trying to get people to move to the PS4

Nope, the only company selling hardware at a loss so far this generation was Nintendo (though it isn't anymore).
