Yes I understand there's a need for a new gen to upgrade the hardware, but the hype is just not worth it. It doesn't have anything to offer to hardcore gamers (new gameplay experiences that couldn't be recreated on the PS3/X60/WiiU). All it has is prettier graphics for casual gamers.

The only thing they can offer is improved online infrastructure, but from what I got from my cousin's PS4 is that Sony even failed at that (very unintuitive OS and online store). At least their indie publishing model is much improved.

PC and Wii U is where it's at for hardcore gamers imo. At least right now. Things might change in a year's time.

Lol at these 'what's the point of next gen if they are making cross-gen games still' comments.

They have done this on about every generation shift. There are several games that are late cycle NES games that were also on SNES and Genesis. PS3 games that also came out on PS2 etc... The install bases of the new consoles aren't quite up there yet, and so as not to gimp game sales, they are putting out versions on both. Simple as that, and it has always happened.

Devs could still make good games for the PS2 if they wanted of course, but that doesn't mean there are more opportunities to do more on advanced hardware.

The last gen consoles were getting pushed to their limits. Improving hardware, again it seems like this is a broken record, does more than just better graphics. Things such as frame rate and AI are things they can improve on with better hardware specs.

I don't think it has anything to do with that.

It would cost about a grand to get PS4/Xbone + games. Before I buy a console I need assurance that the investment will be worthwhile. PS4/Xbone haven't done that yet, there aren't enough interesting games. I can't drop that much dough on the vague promise that "there will be good games...... eventually." Plus, this is a great time to get 7th gen stuff for cheap.

I was referring to other comments that basically said that since games are cross gen, it proves that we didn't need new consoles.

Waiting can be a good financial decision, especially if nothing new that is out is compelling. I have had a lot of enjoyment on my PS4 thus far, so it has been worth it to me.

I bitch about the PS4 lineup a lot but it is starting to fill out. Even if I did not like Watchdogs, it would have been a good game for some who never played a GTA style game. Thief was good, even Bound by Flame was ok. The Tomb Raider Re-do was great. Infamous was ok also. Even Wolfenstien kept me busy for a few days.

They are slowly ending my ability to bitch about the lineup. As long as it keeps trudging along. Sadly though, I may buy more PS3 releases this year than PS4. Right now it is about even but I have a few PS3 games on pre order that are not hitting the PS4.

I've been around here long enough to remember when people on these forums were making the same complaints about the 360/PS3 for their first couple of years (and exempting the Wii). Now they all love them

These kind of responses are just as predictable as the cross-generation releases. Meanwhile I'm enjoying plenty of PS4/Xbox One exclusives and better versions of cross-gen games, so it all seems like a lot of whining...

You could also enjoy them on the far superior PC platform. Better graphics, better online multiplayer, mods/skins(for free) and stuff like that. Just saying(trolling)

except exclusives are not on PC...

off of the top of my head:

Killzone SF
Infamous SS
Resogun
Killer Instinct
Crimson Dragon
Destiny Beta was awesome..

none of that was on PC.
