Far as I know, supporting more than one Gamepad per system was still more in the "technically possible" realm than something it actually supports. Replacements are actually quite expensive as well ($140 plus shipping last I saw).RCBH928 wrote:Maybe Nintendo can sell Wii U tablets for extra players on Splatoon.

Not to mention the actual taxation on the hardware itself to use it. Sure you can run two gamepads displaying, but you may be running now at 30 FPS....want to run four? Good luck at 10 FPS.isiolia wrote:Far as I know, supporting more than one Gamepad per system was still more in the "technically possible" realm than something it actually supports. I just told a friend earlier today that Metroid Prime 3 came out in 2007. 7 years ago. WTF.RCBH928 wrote:If I recall correctly, by 2000 the snes and genesis were something forgotten and looked at as an archaic systems. GTA 4 is older today than SNES was in 2000, for comparison purposes.
I believe the Neo-Geo is the only system from the 16-bit era that still was active by 2000.
It's good and bad. It's a huge reason why I think devs need to start getting more creative because the graphical leaps get smaller and smaller and as things like Nintendo IP's and such prove, better art direction can go a long way in comparison. This generation leap (into the PS4/Xbone) has been probably the weirdest one by a long shot.

What would be the next best cheapest place to buy a wii u? Was going to pick one up from nintendo but went to checkout and they're all out of that $200 32gb w/nintendo land....

I still feel that the last generation console still have life left in them, still capable to spit out quality games.Xeogred wrote:I just told a friend earlier today that Metroid Prime 3 came out in 2007. 7 years ago. Not my Wii (though I have many classics to find out on that console which I never picked up) but the PS3? Hell yeahcasterofdreams wrote: I still feel that the last generation console still have life left in them, still capable to spit out quality games.

100% agree with the PS3 and even the Xbox 360. Grand Theft Auto 5, for what it was, is a beautiful game with lots of detail and that came out 3 months before the current generation. The Last of Us looks fantastic although I've never played it. I don't want to get into listing a bunch of games but you guys get the point.ZeroAX wrote:Not my Wii (though I have many classics to find out on that console which I never picked up) but the PS3? Edit: One comment I forgot to mention: this is why I feel the Wii U's power is perfectly fine as long as the developers know what they are doing.
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I never thought of that. I thought the tablet had its own power to run the second screen, I never realized the main console powers the tablet's graphics. Why the expensive $140 price tag then if it is just a screen that gets a streamed picture?BogusMeatFactory wrote: Not to mention the actual taxation on the hardware itself to use it. I agree. I think 64 games with good art direction still looks more fun to play that just a sharper picture in a dull game on 360 (Battalion Heavy Armor ?). I believe Sony and Microsoft released PS4/XB1 because they felt the consumers are losing interest in the product and its time again to give it a jolt. Like car manufacturers releasing new models even though they do exactly the same thing as the older one, but its just to gain the interest of the customer. PS3/360 are probably the first consoles that still looked awesome and powerful by the end of their lifetime. (compare ps1 -> ps2).Xeogred wrote: I just told a friend earlier today that Metroid Prime 3 came out in 2007. 7 years ago. WTF.

Yes, its about the games. I think Mario Kart 8 proved this. You make a good game, people will buy. Its not about power any more .casterofdreams wrote: One comment I forgot to mention: this is why I feel the Wii U's power is perfectly fine as long as the developers know what they are doing.
To be honest, the Wii was outdated by the time it was released. I think we can find NGC games that had better graphics than Wii launch titles. Remember, the Wii ships with composite cables so you don't even get 480i (at least for the majority of the people who didn't buy the component cables).ZeroAX wrote: Not my Wii (though I have many classics to find out on that console which I never picked up) but the PS3? One of the Wii's launch titles was a gamecube game.RCBH928 wrote: To be honest, the Wii was outdated by the time it was released. I think we can find NGC games that had better graphics than Wii launch titles.

Most people playing PS3 or 360 are going to be playing it on HDMI because the cables are universal, plentiful, and dirt cheap for the most part. Wii on the other hand, it's slightly more expensive, significantly harder to find, and you have to go out of your way to buy a component cable for it to get the best quality, you can't use any old cable you had lying around.
Go back to the 6th gen systems though, I don't think I knew ANYONE who actually used anything other than Composite for GCN/oXbox/PS2. At least at the time. Now I at the very least use Component for the latter 2 and weep quietly in the corner at the price for component cable for the former.
6th gen gaming, composite was acceptable. 7th gen, it was damn near unacceptable.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
