Sounds like law school. 150+ pages of dry case law per night was trying to say the least. Now that I am attorney, I spend much more time reading e-mail correspondence than I do reading case law. (I actually like reading it now since I get to do it so infrequently.) Sadly, however, the fact that I spend 8-15 hours a day reading and writing for work saps my will to read anything recreationally.

I was gonna say, it also helps if what you are reading is something you are genuinely interested in reading about. There has to be a level of personal desire to read. When I get a good book to read, it is incredibly difficult to pry it from my fingers. People say that reading helps you wind down and go to sleep, but most times it riles me up.

I can do that, but after some time words stop making sense to me. I would read a sentence 3 or 4 times, I still do not get it. If I come back tomorrow then I understand it. I am not sure if this is what they call dyslexia .

If I had to read a book it will take me like a month at least, if it is in audio form then no issues. Actually I have gone through a lot of my "to read" articles by highlighting them and using the "speak" function in my iphone during launch and dinner.

Text-to-speech has improved considerably in recent years. Google's voices are quite good, and they're free.

I was in a car accident yesterday. Right off the bat, as to not leave you in suspense, it was not at all bad. I guess you'd call it a fender bender. It was the second time I was sitting in the passenger seat while the driver rear-ended the vehicle in front of us.

The first time I was going some where with my friend. We were approaching a stop sign at the end of a road and his head was turned looking for traffic. He slammed into the Fed Ex truck that was stopped in front of us. There was no real damage. He got a little gash in his front bumper, that was about it.

The joke that came out of it was priceless. It came out of no where! Watch out for those Fed Ex trucks, they're hard to see. Hit any Fed Ex trucks lately?

Yesterday, it was pretty much the same story. I was heading back to work with a co-worker. We were coming off one road that merges onto another with a yield sign. There was a car stopped in front of us. His head was turned looking at traffic, and I guess he assumed the guy in front of him would have went, so he started to take off. I was barely able to get out "Whoa! Wait!" before he hit the car in front of us.

Luckily, like last time, there was no real damage. The guy that he hit was pretty cool about it. He had a small dent in his rear bumper, the car we were in was undamaged. He was pretty much like, "Accidents happen, don't worry about it."

Actually, I got hurt more than the cars lol. The seat belt hurt my waist pretty good and it gave me a headache. Anyway, point, that was a low speed collision and that's how much I got hurt. I couldn't imagine a collision at highway speeds.

The Long Island Express Way, at certain times of the day, can be stop and go. You can literally be cruising at 70 or 80 MPH and then all of a sudden traffic just comes to a stop. I've seen the results of accidents before, where the rear end of a car is all pushed in. I know exactly what happened. Traffic was cruising at 60+ MPH and then came to a sudden stop. One guy didn't realize this in time and crashed into the car in front of him. I wonder what THAT feels like (but I don't wanna find out!).

That's what happened to me a few vehicles ago. There was construction and a lane reduction that was going on for months on the way to work at the time. Unless you were from out of town you knew there was a merge coming up, but even though I went to work at an off peak time there was still a lot of slowing down for no reason failures. I was passing a left offramp a bit before the merge and a car carrier truck went barreling past me off the exit a little fast and it grabbed my attention. I had been following the Mustang in front of me at a safe distance, but everyone stopped just at the moment I was momentarily distracted. I stomped on the brakes, but was probably still going 30-35 when I slid into them. I was fine other than being sore a few days and a few minor scratches, but I don't really need to experience it again. The main thing that sticks in my mind is how terrible airbags smell after going off.

Glad you guys are ok and nothing much beyond a startling.

Yeah, I had the adrenaline jitters for a bit afterwards. The driver of the car I was in was the most frazzled of us all. I guess cause it was 100% his fault, and it was the company's car.

Actually, just the other week I almost had a similar scenario. It was stop and go, I was keeping safe distance of the car in front of me. There were a half dozen or so people on an overpass holding up signs and I was distracted by it. And just then, yeah, traffic slowed almost to a stop in front of me and I was still doing a decent speed. I was able to stop in more than enough time, without having to lock them up or anything, but it was still closer than you'd wanna come.

What was funny is the reason I was distracted by them was because I saw them and thought, "That's fucking great. Tail end of rush hour traffic and you're up there distracting everybody!" Then after they almost caused me to crash, it made me furious. I spent the next 5 minutes day dreaming about calling the cops on them.
