:D Playing Mario Kart 8 last night definitely made my day. I haven't played with a group of people in a game in a long time and it definitely brightened my morning. I am a always a social player and it kills me to have to play a game by myself in solitary, so it really made a difference.

When i get that game I'll have to hit you guys up...I really want to play that one with some people. Fun playing against bots in store but what's the fun in that when they don't have any emotion

I agree...mostly.

Moving into a larger place is neat and fun, unpacking into a smaller place places a challenge.

Frown: Not kidding. I wasn't present when it happened, but one white co-worker called a fellow black co-worker a "lazy nigger". The white dude is part of the family who owns the business, so he won't be punished.

Ugh. Reading that made me feel sick. I worked with a guy who called our Indian or Pakistani employees "Taliban". It was surprising how long it took for him to get fired.

Maybe not, but the whole crooked lot of them should find themselves the target of a very expensive lawsuit if and when the black employee leaves. Their is no clearer evidence of racial discrimination - and no better evidence in support of punitive damages - than the use of epithets.

:evil:/ :P - cut myself several different times and ways thanks to my new blade on the box cutter and the stupid chef boyardee tab on the meal i was planning on eating broke off so I got crafty and used the box cutter(after washing it off really well...I got really determined to eat the chef boyardee) to get into it and I did...but dang if the lid wasn't sharp because of the stupid way I ended up getting it off...so worth it though to be able to eat it

It's a family owned company, and 20% of the employees are family, so it's like I have ten bosses as the Mother is the CEO and she has plenty of children and grandchildren working here. Any complaint about her kids is seen as a personal attack on her.

Let's just say I'm keeping my options open.

I want to take this job on as a challenge, but i don't want to work for someone who tolerates this...stuff. It's "blacks in the back, whites in the front", and that does kind of stuff keeps me up at night. Literally. I can not get a good night's sleep because of this. Maybe that's why I've been a tad more jerky than usual.

That, and I'm a damned good salesman. I'm not pushy, or cliche, or a nozzle. I ask customers how i can take my education and experience to help them grow business. I interview their business before I sell product, because I do care about them and want to see them succeed in a very competitive environment. It's basically being a consultant. But I spend HOURS on three spreadsheets and one word document, documenting EVERYTHING I do. No kidding, I was told "I don't want to Micro manage you, but I need a document of everything you do in the day".

Huh?

Not complaining (much) just stating the facts. My last boss would ask every Friday, "How am I doing as a manger?". And he was the president of the company, probably for asking that question. No doubt he would put people in his place, but he cared about how he managed his business. 'Round these parts, it's her way and nothing else. I can't even finish a sentence when speaking with her. I doubled sales in my first year with my last job, and doubled my double the next year. I'm successful at what I do when I'm allowed to do it my way. And I'm close to doubling sales with new prospects with this company, within six weeks at that, but all the racism and finger pointing doesn't seem to be worth it.

So if I've been a dick, that's why. I'm very conflicted and I have lots of energy. Even if you're doing well at work, if your manager is shit, your job seems like shit. No matter the pay. That's life. Same for everything. If you get an A in a class and your teacher stinks, what did you learn?

Building a bridge here, stay with me...

On memorial day the fresh market had a sale on chicken breasts (free range at that) for $2 a pound. They sold out and I got a rain check. Well, somehow I lost that rain check.

I went back yesterday to see if I could still get the same price, without the rain check. The butcher called the manager, I met with the manager and he approved the price. The manager then turned to the butcher and said "Chuck, you did exactly the right thing for this situation. Keep up the great work".

After checking out I actually met with the manager solely to tell him that I was impressed with his positive attitude, how he treats his employees, and for him to also keep up the great work. He was very thankful.

tldr: Be nice, be mindful of your tone of voice and gesticulations (that's a ten dollar word for body language), and be thankful to others. It puts smiles on faces, motivates people to do their best, and doesn't make people talk snap about you behind your back.

:x I went into local pawn shop this afternoon to find a guy buying a huge amount of cheap PSone games, which I would have bought if I was there 5 minutes earlier. Fair play I guess, but this guy was very obviously a reseller. He was at the counter for a good 10 minutes painstakingly going through every part of the game cases, instruction manuals (I'm talking every page) and disks, asking all sorts of questions like if the counter lady knew the history of the copies.
I get that people want to make money, that's the way the world goes around but shitheads like that are seriously ruining this hobby :x  :?
