I agree with this. The sequel is not quite as good, but both are enjoyable games.

Maybe the titular revenge is in the form of an average game.

Finished the second dungeon in Shantae - the golem mine. I got the elephant transformation to go with the monkey I already had. I'm at Water Town now, ready to go searching for a Zombie caravan.

Overworld sections are still pretty sucky. Cheap enemies, badly designed areas.

Dungeons are pretty awesome. Kinda remind me of Wonder Boy.

I don't like all of Shantaes little friend characters they make you talk to scattered about the place. They add nothing and make it seem like you're watching a cartoon series where you missed the first episode. I think I'd like them better if they were properly introduced.

The game is still fun, but still nothing special to play (graphically it's a different story for sure, it's stunning). Glad I didn't pay $100 for the cartridge, but equally glad I forked out £5.29 for the download

Finished Links Awakening DX, wow this was a pretty substantial Zelda game for being on a handheld, no wonder it gets so much praise. I really want to dive into Minish cap next and skip Ages/seasons for now, I hear Minish Cap is pretty much a hidden gem of the Zelda franchise.

I like the Ages more than Minish.

Minish and the DS Zelda games are kinda meh. The GB/GBC games are where it's at. There's also a great version of Link to the Past on GBA (reminds me that I still need to play Link Between Worlds).

I'm a couple of hours into SotN now. Game says 26% completion. I have just entered a library. What am I gonna do here? Read?

Damn straight. I tried getting both of them into TR eventually.

The sequel is good too.

I've made no progress since Friday...

Mario Kart is to blame.

I found StarTropics to be badly and maliciously designed on several occasions, which ruined the otherwise OK game for me. Fuck that game and it's cheap, unpredictable instant deaths.

Just seems like a lot of trial and error to me, nothing I'm not already used to. That being said, starting at three hearts after dying once is pretty brutal for this game.
