But then I made the mistake of looking it up on howlongtobeat... does anyone else feel this way? Sometimes the thought of even starting a game that 60+ hrs just stops me dead in my tracks. Would it be so awful to get new RPG's that were 20-30 hours?
Yup. So much so that if I pick up a game blind, I'll avoid looking at HLTB at all. Just get antsy about filler, really. Have you tried 'Breath of Death VII'? It'd be my go-to for a super concise RPG.

I'm burning through my first RPG in a long time, testing out Suikoden 2 for a buddy of mine who wants to sell it. Been a long time since I've done this, I know this is supposed to be a short game and yet I'm still feeling like it's kinda long.

Just got my final Star of Destiny though, getting close to the end.

If you ever want to test the readability of a CD or DVD or Blu-ray, and don't want to play through the entire game, use this tool:

Neat tool, thank you. I'll definitely use that a lot since most online sellers don't seem to understand what "like new" means anymore.

You mean stickers on the case, warped liner jacket, crumpled instruction manual, and a badly resurfaced disc aren't "like new"?

Yeah this is why I only buy used games if there are detailed photos to go along with the auction. The generic box shot no longer cuts it.

Neat. I'll be sure to pass that along to him. He's only recently started asking me to do this (he's getting a return of Mega Man Legends 2 that he wants me to try out next -- supposedly freezes at a certain point, so it's "Play till that point, saving often, confirm freeze, resurface, restart from save, see if it works" for that one) but that might be good for a cursory runthrough of most/all of his disc games.

Pretty much why I've given up on the Amazon used marketplace. If I can't see detailed photos, I won't bother anymore.

When you're using VSO for media analysis, some Sony PS1 discs will report false sector errors. This is common and was part of the manufacturing process (anti-piracy). For PS1 discs, you can ignore errors reported for sectors 12 through 15.

Just beat Heavenly Sword for the PS3 and my immediate thought is: I don't give a flying fuck about what's happening onscreen.
