Flying sections yes. Boat sections....yes, but only because Mario Kart underwater sections suck so much.

When it comes to the flying sections, I liked how in Sonic ASRT better drivers could transform into the flying vehicle earlier by performing harder to do tricks, giving them the the flying speed advantage earlier than not so good players, but in Mario Kart 7 I really liked how you could use boosts while you are flying to go even faster, again rewarding skill.

So both systems have something that rewards skill, but I feel that in Mario Kart the kart isn't faster when you are flying, so overall the reward for flying isn't that great.

For those reasons I would say Sonic does it better.

Picking up my copy in 10 minutes. I am very excited to get my hands on it and play. We definitely need to get a Mario Kart group up and running for on-line get togethers.

I am gonna stick to my tried and true...Waluigi...the king of trolls!

Agreed.

And I've been playing as Yoshi in every Mario Kart since the beginning. The other characters are redundant to me. All I need is Yoshi!

mixing it up is part of the fun - playing as one character all the time would drive me nutso.

Very true~ That was part of the joy of Double Dash was that you really needed to experiment to get a good feel for what team you liked. I used to be a die hard Peach player in races and bowser in battles, but changed that up. With Battle-Mode, I tend to be anything and everything. With races, I stick with Waluigi because I enjoy the way he handles, especially with the kart. I am not a motorcycle racer.

So I picked up the game at 9 AM today at my gamestop. Got my silly poster. I walked in and behind me was a father-son combo picking up their copy. It warmed my heart to see such excitement from both of them to play it together.

Haha no, don't get me wrong, I do that. But then I always end up cursing the fact I didn't choose Yoshi, because he;s just so much more awesome

This is me in basically any game where there's multiple characters. I have no idea what a "main" even means. =P
