Sweet deal. Awhile ago my used game/movie/CD store, which usually marks stuff up too much, has Fighters Megamix with a bashed in case for $5. Replaced the case and booya. What a deal.

The two newest additions to my collection! I got both the JVC X'Eye and Sega CDX last week for a fraction of what they generally go for as they were both in non-working order. The CDX wouldn't power on but simply needed a new fuse and the AV port needed to be resoldered but now works great. The X'Eye was a bit more complicated. I touched on this a bit in an earlier post (sorry for rehashing) but I had to harvest a Sega CD I found at a flea market on Saturday for parts in order to get it working but no regrets whatsoever. I never thought I'd have either of these because they're so damn expensive and uncommon.

Went to a mall in the middle of nowhere and stumbled upon a game that I had been looking for well over a two years. I was looking through the Sega Master library and stumbled upon Alex Kidd in Shinobi World complete in box!! What made this find sweeter was the fact that its a blue label cart.

(Blue Label)Alex Kidd in Shinobi world- Master System
NHL Hitz 2002- Oxbox
Capcom's Pro Reel- Oxbox
Outlaw Teen's Tennis- Oxbox
Run Like Hell- Oxbox

Years ago, before the retro boom truly hit, I was hanging out at a local store where I was pretty good acquaintances with the main clerk, just kinda BSing about nothing. Older couple that obviously knew NOTHING came in and traded in a CDX. He gave them so much less than what it was worth, if I had had any cash on me I might have tried to fucking swoop it right out from under him.

Like, he didn't offer them "I am complete gutter scum" levels of price, but probably like... I think $75ish (this had to have been back in 02-03 era). Ugh. One of the reasons I like to carry at least SOME cash these days.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed

The only time I had a cdx, I didn't really know what it was. It was around 1997 and I found one at the flea market for 5.00. I sold it for ten and thought I made a good deal.

BumbleChump, I am envious of your Hard-Off finds. I too would also crumble at the prospects of a Japan trip. Unfortunately, I don't speak the language at all and would probably need my fiancee's friend who is Japanese to take us around. But seriously, all those finds and the mintiness is amazing.

If you stick to bigger cities like Tokyo and Kyoto you can get around ok. The larger areas have a fair amount of English and many people will speak enough to get you by as well. Have at least general plans of where you're going with maps so you can point at the very least and you can get around. With the exception of a taxi from the bullet train station to the place we were staying in Kyoto we took trains, walked, or biked.
