Even those of you who like Zelda II, would you still concede it's the worst in the series? Or is there another game you'd rank lower?
I like Zelda II more than both of the DS games and the original. Possibly more than Minish Cap, but it';s close.

I would rate the original Zelda as easily the worst in the series personally, even though I think it's a fine game in it's own right.

Ack i knew i'd get a reaction from you. What i meant was my goal this summer is the marines campaign. But that doesn't mean i won't play more of it.

Ill buy Classic if you play multiplayer. You can be the human and choose what I play as. Come one Noise, you know you want to.

Truthfully, it has been atleast two years since I fired up AVP:Gold so there is a good chance I am a rubbish Predator and Alien now. There was a time that I was a great Predator, speargun or disc destroying all opponents (with more than one three species kill), but that was long ago (and I am sure patches have fixed the tracking bug where you could throw the disc with a lock on, swap vision modes, lock on again, and kill multiple people if you were fast and lucky).

You should give it another chance. It is definitely one of the best games of its generation; it is actually challenging; and the combat mechanics were spectacular for the time. Moreover, it has aged gracefully, and I actually enjoyed my most recent playthrough of Zelda II more than my most recent playthrough of A Link to the Past.

You need 37(!) points to qualify for the podium cutscene, which is equivalent to 5 first places and 2 last place finishes over the 8 courses.

The 5 courses I came first on were Sunny Beach (easy enough), Sunset Bay (sometimes causes problem if the computer pushes you off, but OK otherwise), Drake Lake (easy to win once you get the hang of the poles at the end), Port Blue (partly a fluke, and partly a flawless last run through the shortcut tunnel - which you're forced to take in expert as the regular route is shut) and Twilight City (I always do this flawlessly, but generally come 2nd because the computer are perfect at this course - this time I magically finished 8 seconds ahead despite doing a less than perfect run).

So basically I got lucky on 2 of my wins. I feel thats the best you can hope for.

For what it's worth, I deserved better results on Stormy Fortress and the icy place too, but got screwed over near the end of both. The last course though I did awful, but by that point it didn't matter.

EDIT: And a few tips for the courses for you, spoilered for length:
Sunny beach - If you cut the last corner really tight, you shouldnt have too many issues at all here.
Sunset Bay - The trick is getting the hang of the slalom before the final corner - using B as the waves hit you will stop you jumping, letting you surf through it easily. This trick is handy on lots of courses actually.
Drake Lake - The computer normally isnt that great here, but you need to get the hang of the posts near the end. It's actually a much straighter line than it looks - you just have to dodge around one pole hidden just behind the first yellow buoy and then head straight through basically.
Stormy Fortress - 1st lap go around the course, 2nd and third go through the water channel. You can jump the pole at the start on lap 1 and 2 - on lap one bounce on the first wave and then on the 2nd, pull back a bit to get enough air to sail over. Lap 2 there's just one wave, but holding back should give you enough air to get over. I've never managed it on lap 3 though.
Port Blue - I got around the curvy shortcut bit by tapping the accelerator on the corners instead of holding it. I still hit a few walls though, but didn't bail too badly. The computer will overtake you on the final jump without fail because they're dicks like that.
Twilight City - you need to dive UNDER the first wall. Go up the ramp, angle yourself forwards and land just before the wall. Hold down for a bit and you'll go right under. Go voer the sand like the computer does, then you want to skip the first ramp before the sharp corner (watch out for the mines around it) and also the first ramp in the final straight where there are two (again, watch for the mines). Jumping the last one is essential though.
Icy place whose name I forget - This one isn't TOO bad once you know it, but itll fuck you up the first time. Go around the early jumps, through the channel on the right on the first corner. Lining yourself up for the ice is a pain, but don't let yourself turn too sharply to the side or you'll bail when you hit the water again. When you reach the big jump, take it and turn sharply right in the air to line yourself up for the slalom over the ice flows.
Last course I also forget the name of - Lap one be sure to hit the ramp after the pirate ship and hold forward to dive UNDER the jetty. Lap 2 and 3 you can just drive under the jetty anyway.
Thanks for all the help dude! I'm definitely getting a lot better, and I'm now able to make it to Glacier Coast, so its gonna be done soon.

Fun story:

Turns out my girlfriend loved this game back in the day and played the holy hell out of it.

She was over tonight, and I asked her to show me her skills. She puts in on expert and gets going. First try, she fails at Port Blue. Second try, she fails at Glacier Coast.

But I guess those were just a warmup, because on the third try she nailed it.

7-7-4-4-4-4-4-7

41 points, first place on the podium, and unlocked the reverse tracks.

She got lucky a couple of times with recoveries after getting fucked over by the computer, but yeah, that was just awesome to watch.

It's been a pretty busy week for me, but I did have time to start Mega Man 2.

I've played a very small amount of it before this summer, but never actually beaten it. The Mega Man games I've played through are all the Game Boy ones (which are totally baller), X, X4, Zero 1-4, Megaman and Bass, and Legends.

I'm down to just Heatman left. I started out by killing off Metal Man first, since his power-up is OP as fuck. Then I played guessing games as to which master robots went in the usual rock paper scissors order. I vowed to not use any guides for this game. So far, I've game overed twice.

The levels are amazing. Loads of fun, and very awesome with metal blade. The boss fights are so far, too easy. I may play through this on the harder difficulty later on. Loving it, and can't wait to get to the final stage(s).

The Metal weapon really does trivialize the game. I mean, it feels fun at first, especially if you've just played MM1. You feel so free and powerful. But then you realize that this isn't what makes MM fun, since you don't need to figure out boss weaknesses or how to approach different enemy placements, you just metal blade.

Its weird that this is how most people play the game, and it ends up being their favorite, when it is barely Mega Man at that point.

So you're saying MM2 has mechanics like some shmups? Spam the hell out of certain enemies/bosses with the one weapon that's the best in the game?

And, you're right, when MM3 is far more Mega Man.
