Someone correct me if I'm wrong - but isn't one of the Kinect's biggest flaws the fact that it requires a copious amount of space to function? Thus it's completely impractical for the teenage kid with a console in his bedroom or the college kid who wants an Xbox in his dorm room. And so on. Even the Wii motion games required very limited space and basically just involved arm movements.

I'm not against the Kinect for how it functions, I'm against it for the simple fact that the technology hasn't been utilized in any games that I'm interested in. Star Wars, Fable, Dragon Ball Z, and Steel Battalion, all franchises that I might be interested in, all had horrible games for the peripheral. Would the X1 somehow improved on that initial bad experience? I don't know, but show me a Resident Evil game where I'm literally stabbing and hitting zombies with things and I'll think about it.

They should have asked Nintendo to develop it and make a killer up for it.....just saying :P

yes I know nintendo has completely failed to take advantage of the wii u gamepad, but every other time they designed amazing games that took advantage of the hardware they were on

I think at least some of that is a matter of what the software expects, not what the Kinect itself is capable of. MS has experimented with mounting one above a computer desk for example.

The actual technology is very cool and capable. MS isn't the only one that thinks so - Apple bought the company (PrimeSense) that makes it last year.

I think the biggest issue at this point is that the PS4 is winning the race. The Kinect is packed full of tech, and not cheap to build/include.

Similarly, it has a performance overhead that is at least contributing to losing resolution/framerate battles with the PS4.

More or less, it's awesome tech if/when there's a good use for it, but it's pretty logical to step back from making it mandatory for the time being.

The only Kinect-related project I thought was innovative/worth trying out was the Illumiroom technology. I don't think they've done anything with it though.

I doubt that's ever seeing the light of day, at least for now.

My favorite part of the Kinect is the microphone on certain games and navigating the UI and the biometric sign in.

That's what's kind of annoying me about this. They're seemingly caving into all this PR hype about "1080p 60fps" when realistically if the game is running at 720p 30fps are most consumers even going to notice a difference? It will still probably look beautiful and gorgeous. It all seems to be a marketing tool that has little bearing on the end product.

Yes PS4's are selling better than Xbox Ones right now, but Xbox One is by no means hurting, it is also selling fantastically well. Is it cause for them to change their entire vision of the system?

I just think it was a rash move that will ultimately hurt the potential the Kinect had given time.

OMG, that was so cool.

Id buy a game for this, be even cooler if it worked with steam games.

I remember when Nintendo made a price reduction mere months after the new console launch......and it's working out great for them......right? M$ has nothing to worry about.

Seriously though? They'd be better off under-cutting Sony altogether. I feel that the PR train has already left the station. The hardcore fans already have an XBONE, and the ones that might be persuaded by the price drop have already read all the news of the PS4 having better multi-plats. So really, they'd be better off to completely undercut Sony. At this point, I don't see any other way they can level out the numbers.

Although I know PS4 is the better choice...
Something just pushes me to get the XboxOne . Something is "cool" about it, not sure what. It has to do with the branding I bet
